Why is Northeastern (NEU) so popular with both parents and students these days?

Anonymous
There definitely is a virulent Northeastern hater who can't help herself as she injects negativity into any NEU post.

Then the canard of paid NEU boosters leaks out of her mouth along with flat out lies.

I really would like to know the motivation for her doing something like this. Supposedly her kid got rejected, he was a high stat kid who got admitted to more selective colleges, so suddenly the vendetta against Northeastern is on. Definitely one of the more oddball posters here at DCUM, and that's saying something.

Quite a theory. Remind me again who the unhinged one is here?

I'm only post because someone else just bumped this up, but can we just move on? Why do people keep resurrecting this thread? (Unless f course the NEU marketer). It's insane. It's a decent midtier college in cool city. It has some creative admissions/marketing that result in a low admit rate. It offers coops. There. Can we please put this to bed now?

Curious if there are any other "midtier" colleges with an average SAT of 1500? Patiently waiting...

They completely gamed their rankings that’s why. I’m sure it’s a good school, but acceptance rate below 10%? Wannabe Ivy

Those stats are gamed just like their admissions rate. Their admissions numbers are just not comparable to any other school because they are calculated differently.

I would feel bad for the originator of this thread and their cohorts, but for their sad predictability and dedication to their "cause". We get it, you were not admitted to NEU.

But why be so predictable? Same old, same old: (as mentioned upthread)
Post disingenuous thread question. Get a few responses. Post additional question that looks like it is piggybacking on the first, but opens doors for criticism of the school. The same people chime in about their negative thoughts and opinions. Far fetched opinions and false claims start trickling in. A few people chime in to tell the negative posters why they know their false claims to be false.

It becomes more obvious that the negative posters know less and less about the actual facts and goings on about the school. Negative posters start asking for facts. Sane posters back away slowly from the same old post about the same school, byt the same people.

OP and friends pretend to be a young person chiming in, adding ridiculous statements (a reflection of their "personality", or lack of, as a grown adult). Sane posters start questioning why the admin allows such posting.

OP and friends do their predictable turn, and claims that there is "marketing" or "boosters", which tells you something about OPs sanity (ie: lack of). OP and friends persist with their false claims. OP continues to wonder why people are questioning their absurd thread. Repeat.

Phase two (since phase one is clearly not achieving the results OP wanted): Gaslight about who started the thread, and which party is which. Add loopholes so that OP/friends roles are changed, except they are inconsistent and give themselves away. (OP now commences to scour their thread to determine where they went wrong).

I feel the most for OP/friends children - if only OP showed the conviction for their children that they do for dissing a school that doesn't know they exist.

I am disappointed in the authors, I thought they would be much better at this. But then, it tells you why they were not admitted.

Thank you to those who helped piece it together. This is not about the school, at all - but clearly valuable information, nonetheless.

NEU has a 3% acceptance rate. Harvard has a 7% acceptance rate. Sounds like you're angry NEU is more prestigious these days

I don't get it. It's all marketing. It's a mid school.

It’s close is all I’m saying. I’ll put up my kid against any HYP kid.

Nothing like a good northeastern thread.

The only kid that went from my kids HS got in on ED with lowish GPA and TO but got shipped over to London then Oakland for first year.

You can't game a 1500.
