It’s called test optional. |
Every school yield protects. I think people just don't like change in college tiers. These are not predetermined categories. neu has done a fantastic job with building its coop program and improving its desirability. Yes it's true, my DS and his friends mostly regard neu in the same tier as HYPSM because the acceptance rate is lower than all of those schools at 3.5%. we are at a W school so when someone gets into MIT for example it's met with a 'meh', but when you get into neu everyone will know. My DS said his friends literally screamed when someone got accepted because 40+ applied this year and only one got in. It truly is an amazing prestigious school. |
This has to be a joke. You do realize that the acceptance rate on ED was like 40% this year? Absolutely no one regards MIT and NEU as the same. |
Marketing. DC keeps receiving unsolicited marketing mail from NEU. |
Yes- I was surprised that the vast majority did not submit test scores. |
Nope, it was like that before TO |
Does W in W school stand for "whack" now? Are you all really that out of touch with reality? No one at my kids' mcps schools or anywhere really regards neu as anything close to MIT or an Ivy. It's a fine school. Be happy. Stopt this nonsense of tryingto compare it to T15 schools. This thread has totally jumped the shark. Calgon, take me away! |
I just looked up the CDS for the years before test optional and the 25th/75th percentiles were 1360/1530 on average. |
If you are talking about W schools, I have some numbers to share from this source: https://moco360.media/2023/09/13/where-montgomery-county-high-school-graduates-are-going-to-college/ Looking at the "W" schools, Whitman, WJ, Wootton, and Churchill, here is Applied/Accepted/Enrolled data: Whitman 69/16/5 WJ 68/22/6 Churchill 65/23/8 Wootton 98/26/6 Total 300/87/20 This gleans a acceptance rate among W schools of 27% and a yield of 22%. Not very impressive numbers for a school that is claiming to be on the same level as the ivies lol. |
22% yield at nationally ranked public schools is pretty ROTFL. |
People crave what seems desirable.
Humans are herd animals. |
This data is false and self selected. At current W school 75 applied and I know one maybe two max who got in |
That's quite the accusation, if you contend that Bethesda Magazine fabricated dozens of college acceptances out of thin air. |
This data is from 2023. We will see if you are right about this year in September when these numbers are published for 2024. I tend to believe the hard published numbers vs. your impression lol. |
Exactly. Hearing rumblings around school is quite different than scientifically collecting data. The PP seems desperate to know that NEU is elite! |
