I am disputing the charges from 2020 and 2021.. I am incredibly disappointed, my girls LOVED this camp, they are heartbroken... and I am out close to $15,000, I am just sick. Praying my credit cards/bank can get my money back. Any help/advice is welcome.

Update -- I am unable to dispute the charge for the Summer 2020 Camp, the payment was made in December 2019, according to my credit card company, its too old to dispute. CRR really knew what they were doing when they applied those credits to our 2021 camp session.. I am afraid that money is gone (~$3,000). Praying I can recoup the money I paid for the 2021 session (~12,000)... feeling ill.

Also out $3000 at this point for payment of 2020 camp. So PP, I don’t think you’re any worse off (with respect to your 2020 payment) having applied that to 2021 than the rest of us.

This is all heartbreaking. We didn’t send our daughter last summer due to Covid, but we did roll our payment over to summer 2021... guess that was a mistake. I’m dreading telling my daughter. Are there other camps (wva, va, pa, etc) that offer a similar experience of a dedicated short riding session followed by sessions of general camp?

I don’t think you made a mistake to roll over. I requested a refund but still haven’t gotten it, so in same place

Hello - I wanted to give you all an update, I attended the "341(a) Meeting of Creditors", this is part of the bankruptcy process, its where Joe Greitzer (CRR Owner) had to answer questions from the lawyers of the folks who he owes money. I think they were all surprised to hear a parent on the line, I had no idea what to expect. From what I understand from the documentation (I am no lawyer) it appears the most he owes each parent (aka Creditors Who Have Unsecured Claims) is $3,025... From what I can tell that amount appears to cover the amount for the majority of families who he owes money. However there are 10+ families where he owes more, sadly it appears my family is owed the greatest amount. This is so devastating, for the camp and those parents who are out thousands of dollars. Additionally, it appears he did not disclose those funds that rolled over from 2020 in his claim (at least he didn't include the 2020 amount owed in what he disclosed for my family). If you are interested in this summary of assets and liabilities document, leave your email here and I will send it to you (its 113 pages long).

He does claim he is going to try to open in 2021, I am not so sure he will be able to make it work. He does have to submit a plan to the court on how he intends to move forward, that plan is due to the court on March 9th. I will continue to provide updates here.

Thanks for that information. I just received the Bankruptcy Court Proof of Claim today. We are owed $3700. Wondering how much of that I'll actually see. There's no way I'd send my kids back to Rim Rock this summer.

This makes me so sad. I hope those of you who are owed money see it returned to you.

Some of my best childhood memories are of my time at Camp Rim Rock. It would be wonderful if another owner could take it over and run it successfully.

Hi anon from 1/20 at 13:11 -- I would love if you could send the assets and liabilities document to me. My email address is meredithhalama95 at gmail. Thank you!

Thank you anonymous poster. We aren’t owed money but remain so sad about this. I’m angry for those owed money and for Joe ruining in both concrete and undefinable ways memories of childhood perfection. We’ve been connected to the camp long enough that we were there during time of previous owners. He’s ruined their legacy too. Hope those here-employees and camper families alike-are made whole.

Have any families found similar camps they’re considering? My youngest DD would have been going for a month this year-COVID dependent of course. ‘Starting over’ as a rising 7th grader at a new place will be sad.

You should try to get it back asap.

Does anyone have recommendations for similar camps as an alternative that might be within a long day's drive or so of the DMV?

I too prepaid for 5 weeks for 2021, for 2 daughters... I am devastated! If you paid by credit card, you can try to dispute through your credit card. Unfortunately for me.. this is a lesson I am learning the hard way, the next time I pre-pay for anything.. use your credit card, not a direct payment from your credit card!!

They are not allowed to give any refunds until after the bankruptcy is settled. He must file a plan describing how he intends to reorganize and pay back his debts (sell a portion of the camp, the whole camp, rent a portion, let another company run the camp.. who know what he will come up with).

I remain hopeful the camp can pull through, but I have my doubts. My daughters have gone for 4 years, they absolutely LOVED this camp.

a fellow concerned parent.
