Why are FCPS teachers suing their former principal?

Ditto. Every interaction I ever had with that particular AP was negative. I find Ms. Lemmon to be a highly effective administrator. I'd be very disappointed if these accusations are true.

Hello Mrs. Lemmon, nice of you to join our debate. "highly effective administrator" sounds like eduspeak to me.

People aren't perfect, and sometimes their imperfections collide. Easier to sue a principal for sticking her foot in her mouth occasionally than to sue an AP for being incompetent.

Let's just be clear:This is a bit more than sticking her foot in her mouth. If a male principal made the comments that Ms. Lemmon is alleged to have made, there would be no question that his remarks were sexist and inappropriate (hire "pretty young blondes")

And let's be equally clear: These are mere allegations made by plaintiffs with an incentive to spin things to enhance their odds of getting whatever it is they are want (I'm not going to pay to read a complaint, so I have no idea what they are seeking in terms of damages or other relief).

I've lost a year of salary after teaching for 15 years. Spent one year unemployed because of her. I won my unemployment ..the EEOC case is still unresolved. As I told a district office worker, I just want to see her dealt with accordingly. The students deserve better. No money could ever repay the damage she has done to me. I am just grateful that I was able to get my foot back in the door after a lost year. I'm still getting on my feet after unemployment (single mom here) but I'm now on my 18th year of teaching.

All of this does not come from a person "sticking her foot in her mouth a few times". It sure seems like there's a history here.

I am reading things that I experienced during my 1 year tenure in FCPS and at MVW. What bothers me the most is that I was not the first person to suffer at the hands of this woman, however, FCPS let her go on. Now, this document spells it right out for them. There can be no more denying of the facts of what kind of person she is.

So what is the gist of the complaint(s)? What are the plaintiffs alleging?

Racial and religious discrimination. I believe the statements by the plaintiffs wholeheartedly as I was subjected to the same thing. It is scary because it is almost identical. Amazingly, she was quoted as saying things that another colleague and I "assumed" were the case. I kept a detailed timeline of our interactions and her threats. I kept all of my doctor's records from my visits (not realizing at the time that my doctor was documenting the events that I shared with her that were causing high levels of stress and anxiety from work).

The AP was pregnant and there is a clear amount of discrimination against her. The actions do not surprise me at all as this was business as usual from her while at MVW.

PP, on what grounds are the plaintiffs alleging racial and religious discrimination? Based on the quotes from the case that were provided on page 2 of this thread, I didn't see any racial or religious comments. The comments were very inappropriate and sexist, but not related to race or religion.

20:44 here:
Are you drunk? It appears that YOU'RE off your meds as YOUR post makes no sense. The PP clearly has paid to read the case. I was asking him/her to share the examples the plaintiffs gave for religious and racial discrimination. What part do you not understand?

I will have to respond later. The document is 31 pages long.
There was a staff outing on a Jewish holiday and one of the plaintiffs is Jewish. The gentleman who worked there as an aid and had been given the OK from the hiring committee to teach 4th had the decision overturned by her. She said she hired a young girl right out of a Christian school because she would do God's will. Also because she speaks English. When the man landed a position at another school...she told him that this was the school for him. Those were "his" people.

I do know that racial discrimination is hard to prove (learned that from my lawyer when dealing with her). I've always said that she knew how to do just enough, but not enough to not get in trouble. She sent an email to the entire staff about me after returning from a conference and having realized that I did NOT resign as they assumed that I would days before when I met with HR. This was a word document was supposedly a start of a summary of her visit to my class that day as told by the assistant principal. Of course she calls my home and cell up towards 10pm the night before. She claims that she needed to see me in the morning. Supposedly to apologize. I had no idea but my colleagues knew before I stepped into the building. Her rationale for this...she needed to work on it at home so she was trying to email it to herself. Instead it went to mount Vernon woods staff.. two times (7:14 and 7:16 pm). Was it enough to get her on? No. But it was enough to make more people draw attention to me. Teacher after teacher came to my room advising me to get an attorney. But no one would ever stand up and tellet of their issues.

If she is reading, she knows who I am. As I told my union rep that day in Gatehouse March 2011..one thing no one will ever be able to take away from me is the fact that I stood up for myself. I told her one thing my daughter would nebe r learn from me is how to lay down and take the punches. I wwas being pushed out of a job but I did it standing up and fighting all the way

Please pardon the typos. I am responding from my phone and it autocorrect does what it wants to do at times.

Please be careful what you say on this board. You don't want to say something that might open you up to a lawsuit by her. I'm definitely not trying to silence you because I've found what you've posted very informative, just advice to be careful.

+1 to all of this

I understand totally as I have retained all of my documentation as well. Nothing I've said is out of line with what I already have. The problem has been with silence. Fear has caused too much harm already.

I will say that this is my last post. Not because I am afraid as fear is something that I do not possess. I realized while walking the dog that I have giver this situation too much of my energy. I don't live my life focusing on the negative. I allowed myself to go back and relive a dark period and it stops now. I wish the plaintiffs the best and anyone else involved.
Have a good day all.

Good luck as you move forward!
