WHat are the chances Obama gives feds Christmas Eve off for free and when would it be announced?

Always nice to see the federal worker crowd arguing that they deserve more perqs.

16:19 - I KNOW! I have never, ever understood the mentality of "Well I can't have it, so you shouldn't either." It is usually those same people who are ALSO against taxing the rich, which to me seems like a huge contradiction, but somehow fox news has convinced them . . . .

Always nice to see the non-fed workers don't know how to spell "perks." This is why you didn't make the cut, asshole.

And lower pay for comparably qualified employees above the support staff level.

And most people in my office are so swamped they hardly take vacation or leave.

When was the last time you faced mass layoffs?

Yeah, thought so.

With all that extra pay and the years of bonuses you should have saved for rainy day and not bought your tiny blonde wife that expensive black suburban! Then you wouldn't be so worried about the layoffs.

My corporation has frozen them for three.

Take the day off.

But I'll bet your salary is still higher than a comparable fed.

It's not exactly that. But of course when you read something like this you're going to compare it to what you get, and if it's a lot less you're not going to be particularly sympathetic. It's the same way everyone pounces on the "I'm so poor I make $250K a year" posters. You just don't feel that bad, ya know?

You are employed, generous benefits, and probably already overpaid. You want Christmas Eve off, take a day of annual leave..

Why is it Govt employees think thaat they should get the day before or after a holiday off? How about either go to work or take a day out of one of your gazillion days off that you " have to use"? Non- govt employees don't get the day off prior to a holiday, snow days, too hot days, a flurry fell day and oh my God we may have some sleet day. go to work and stop wasting tax payors money!!

OP here. I don't think we should get it off. Just asking if we might (as it has happened before) and when we'd know. What is so terrible about that? I wish for you more days off and bigger annual bonuses (which we are not eligible for- aside from very minor incentive awards)- why would you want anyone to have less? I wish we had more of a european approach towards work in this country. I definitely don't begrudge you more days off- if you had more maybe you would be nicer.

And how dare they ask for a lump of coal to heat the cold office!

Thank you Ebeneezer Scrooge.
