WHat are the chances Obama gives feds Christmas Eve off for free and when would it be announced?

that kind of thing is very agency specific isn't it?

I believe that any supervisor can give up to 59 minutes early dismissal (must be less than one hour), any agency can give up to two hours early dismissal, but it requires notification from OPM or the President to give more.

So does anyone think there will be an Executive Order signed?

A lot of us in my agency are concerned about the contractors, too. Most all of our contractors are real specialists in one area or another, and we really need them right now. Not only would another unpaid day off be a hardship, but so many are expecting their hours to be seriously cut back after New Years. I'm sure the folks managing the contracts will expect the same amount of work to be accomplished. Troubling all around.

Nope. Pretty sure it would've been done by now, seems too late. Bush did it on December 6th. Obama did the half day on Dec. 14th.

Would love to take leave on Christmas Eve but the director in the office that I work at didn't approve it. We were told it goes by seniority so now i am forced to call out. I would eve take an unpaid leave to get Christmas Eve off. Was banking on Obama giving us a holiday considering we havent received a pay raise for over 3 years.

So your leave request wasn't approved so you're going to call in sick? I'm sure your boss won't see right through that.

I am with you. I am on the lookout for an announcement of any sort, but hopefully it will be time off. Now I'm not self fish, if the President can let everyone (private sectors too) have some hours or the day off I'm for that too, its been a tough year for all Americans!

What if they make an announcement on Sunday so they don't have to give as many people the day off if they were already taking Monday off? So they look good for giving it but they know many were already scheduled for leave on that day.

FWIW, my agency head announced Monday early dismissal today. Tired of waiting I guess.

Yeah...our agency just heard that we are getting 4 hours early dismissal on the 24th and 2 hours on the 31st. The full day isn't happening folks...

I 2nd the It Ain't Gonna Happen -- today agencies were told to send out letters about fiscal cliff stuff. All agency letters are basically the same & end with we appreciate you at holiday time.

If it was going to happen, it would have been done before or with the letters.
