I think Bush did every time Dec. 24th was a Monday or Friday??? |
It certainly won't be in time to make holiday travel plans.
I doubt he'll give them it off at all this year. There was a different political climate when Bush was president. Much harder for Obama to do anything that will be percieved as "soft". |
WHy is it "soft" instead of "thank you for your service I know we have frozen raises for the last two years"? |
How about go do your job, if you want to take time off use your leave. |
Bizarre reply. I can and will take off when I want to and take leave, I was just trying to plan and jog my memory. Seems like you don't want feds to get a day off. No idea why- I'm all for everyone having the best morale, bonuses, ample vacation time etc. Public or private. Sounds like we have a hater in the house. |
I think most people have a hard time with this as typically Government workers get more holidays and more vacation days than the average American worker. So don't be suprised to get a little hostility when asking for more. |
Federal employee here and I agree with the poster you quoted. I dont see how one day can really affect your ability to plan. Just plan on taking leave and make your travel plans. If you end up getting the 24th off then you can dont record leave when you submit your time records for that pay period. |
I think the best we will get is 2 hours of admin leave. We won't get the whole day. |
And lower pay for comparably qualified employees above the support staff level. |
My corporation has frozen them for three. Take the day off. |
And in my profession they also get 20-30%+ less in pay than private firms, so there's no inequality at all in that. |
That's why you earn annual leave. Use it. |
I think the chances are excellent. If Obama wins, he can do whatever he wants. Thus, a reward for his hard-working base. If Obama loses, he can similarly do whatever he wants. Thus a reward for his hard working base. |
14:10 again. As to the announcement, it's traditionally been done in a memo a week or so before. |
You wont know until maybe 2nd week of December. In the years where Christmas falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, usually the Washington Post will print a speculation article listing the times Feds received the day as a holiday. It's very rare that we dont get it (if I remember correctly). I think it's happened only once that we didnt get it. |
