Wow! Thanks for sharing this info. Good to know. And good for you for calling in that warranty. If they offer it it's good that they honor it!

Good news - IKEA fully refunded the cost of the Kramfors to a gift card. THAT'S customer service.

Called in and got the run around. Any advice on getting them to hope the store credit refund?

Ask for a manager in the return area. They can call the San Diego store and ask a manager they seem to know about the issue a lot of the new people or customer service people have no idea what you are talking about, because the couch has been discontinued.

You had it for 5 years and then you returned it? I'm sorry, that's a scam.

Not if it's a 10 year warranty. Selling something with a 10 year warranty, and then not honoring it--that would be a scam.

Hello Can you please tell me who I need to call or email to get mine refunded too?

Got a full credit in Canada. $1999 for the sofa and chaise lounge, $599 for the Ottoman + sales tax. Store credit without receipt. if you have the Kramfors and have had issues, call it in!

I received a partial refund (no receipt) at Ikea today!! I just want to thank the lady who started this post. I was looking for replacement covers for my Kramfors when I came across this site and decided to give it a try. I knew about the 10-year warranty but assumed that it would not cover the leather version. Boy was I wrong. They put the refund on an Ikea card and were very helpful and not the least bit annoyed at my return. I purchased a Kramfors leather 3-seater and two ottomans in 2008. I had both sofa cushions repaired in 2011 and the seam rips started again right before Christmas of 2013. I could not justify spending more money on upholstery, so I was going to go the slipcover route. So happy I decided to try your suggestion. Although, I am still a little sad at having to give up my sofa I absolutely loved its shape and comfort, but the refund will help soothe my sorrow. I will not be buying another sofa from Ikea as they having nothing that compares. But there are many things that I do love (textiles, kitchen ware, etc.) and will be a loyal customer forever. Thank you Ikea for living up to your promises!!

I am having trouble returning my Kramfors couch to Ikea Orlando because I no longer have my receipt for the warranty claim. They said they called Tampa and Miami and without a receipt they refuse to do anything and that no other store ever would either. From everything I have read this is not the case, right? I sounds like many people have been able to receive store credit or partial credit at least. I bought the couch in 2008 I believe, and have no idea where the receipt could possibly be after such a long time. What stores have any of you been able to receive credit without a receipt so I can have my store in Orlando contact them. Please let me know if you have any information thank you.

They aren't going to take it back without a receipt! How
do they know you didn't buy it off Craigslist or a yard sale?

NP. FYI people, IKEA receipts (along with a bunch of other stores) now have fading ink that completely is gone within 6 months of purchase. This is a new thing a lot of stores are doing now. Everyone is trying to save money. Anyway, I would scan or copy receipts of big purchase items with warranties if you want to be able to refer to them later.

Thermal printing is nothing new. Thermal printing used to be on that special paper that would turn pink and purple with age, but now can be printed on paper that doesn't change colors and only fades. Ikea and many other vendors just converted to using thermal printing because it is cheaper than other forms of printing.

And for the PP, I just checked and my Discover on-line record goes back to 2006 (although I've had the card for many more years than that). I would check on-line records for your credit cards. If you can find a charge to Ikea in 2008 for a large sum, then they might accept the credit card statement as proof, or they might be able to track the purchase based on the sale date.

I had looked into that as well as contracting IKEA customer service, they said they could look up the purchase with the card number but is is for a bank that I have not used in over 5 years. Many other people have received store credit without their receipts. I am just trying to find out which stores have been able to do this for customers so I can have my store talk to them

I would love some additional info. I do not have my receipt but IKEA Carson delivered the items to my house! Regardless, they are refusing to honor my warranty request. The leather is peeling and is worn with minimal use. Sad to have bought an expensive product or low quality and dealing with this horrible service is making me rethink IKEA even for something small.
