In your opinion... |
Not the OP but I actually don't see a lot of kids going to Tufts our school...I wonder if the kids who want to go to Boston are now preferring BU, BC, and NU...tons of kids go to those schools. |
Yeah I definitely think the schools you name are “hotter” now. But historically in Boston (I’m from there) it was always MIT, Harvard, Tufts, BC, BU in that order, in terms of “cache” (NEU was a commuter school.) They're all good schools with very different strengths and vibes. I made my DS apply to Tufts because it’s not as popular here and hoped to increase his chances. He’s a junior and loves it. |
I don’t think UVA and W&M are “just as good if not better” but they are decent options if you live in VA. |
Wash U is located where? You are absolutely a horrible parent to send a college student to Wash U at this point in time. Have you not seen that state legislature? |
This is a joke, right? |
I think Tufts is the hardest admit for the unhooked, is in the best location and a better experience. The ED1 has a lot of athletes (even for sports like sailing) that Wash U and Emory don’t have. Emory only has 400 athletes total, Wash U 750 and Tufts 1100. |
Definitely submit 1500! DD got into Emory and WashU on RD and submitted 1500. Did not apply to Tufts, did not like it at all. |
Shut/Them/Down |
Well, you would be wrong about that. |
Actually I think it's Emory and Tufts. They both received more applications than WashU |
So much of this comes down to location. My kid never considered Emory or WashU. |
Do you understand how percentages work? WashU and Emory admit a lower percentage of applicants than Tufts. It’s a fact, not a matter of opinion. The number of applications received by each school doesn’t on its own tell you how selective the school is. |
Tufts isn't ranked high enough to waste an ED on it. |
And if you back out the ED1 athlete recruits, your stats start to fall apart. |
