why are all the men in Chevy Chase DC so darn unattractive?

Anonymous
Define attractive.

To me, if a man has a handsome face, then he is attractive. I don't care if he is wearing man sandals with white socks...pretty face=attractive in my book.

So to me, it all depends on how attractive is defined.

For all you know, I'm referring to Americans whose names start with the letter 'M,' so just save your flaming energy.

Married?
Metrosexuals?
Monogamous?
Meth addicts?
Mickey Mouse?

I'm sure most of the men who can afford to live there console themselves in the arms of some nubile young woman who likes their money.

Clearly you have never set foot in CC DC. You're thinking of other parts of town. The men here don't make that kind of money. I know because I live here. And my husband and I are equals, both in age and in profession, as is the case with most of our neighbors.

Are you equally uptight too?

Probably. But at least I don't have the huge chip on my shoulder that you seem to have.

NP here. I will stipulate to that. They are not that wealthy, and both genders are equally dumpy.

Why are you looking in the parks? There are plenty of good looking guys in the neighborhood, but you have to catch them headed downtown in the mornings or running on Connecticut at night. Another reason to walk to the metro.... and work against my dumpiness.

Forgive me, but while I'm sure there are plenty of ugly men wandering about in MD, DC and NoVA, I must state that, having come from the south, there are EXTREMELY FEW beautiful women in this area.

Before you attack me, let me be clear on how I define beauty.
1)Physically attractive
2)Socially kind (some call this "polite", but not overly so)
3)Intelligent (not necessarily book smart; full of common sense)
4)Not a narcissist.

I don't think I'd be too far from the mark if I stated, firmly, that easily 70% of the women I've met in this area are vapid narcissists who "demand" to be treated like a "princess" without doing anything to earn such treatment. Most spend more time shopping and gossiping about useless crap that they do working, studying, volunteering or caring for their children/family, all of which are worthwhile activities.

Back home things were not this way. Women, in large numbers, can hold a conversation. Women devote their time to accomplishing real things in their community/family. Women don't dismiss men out of hand simply because the guy doesn't look rich or doesn't resemble a male model.

Oh, and before I forget, let me mention physical beauty. There's NO CONTEST. There are far greater numbers of physically stunning women in New England, the Deep South and the West than there are here in the mid-atlantic region. I, and my visiting guy friends, will vouch for that.

Here's the test. If you, in any significant way, resemble a character on Jersey Shore or one of the "Real" Housewives shows, you are NOT a beautiful woman. Period. Deal with it, and get a reality check.

So, are there ugly men? Sure. Are there ugly women? You betcha.

Signed,
A Happily Married Man

I have found that the men in close-in Bethesda are generally attractive, some even good looking for DC, a handful even good looking generally.

17:16 - "polite"? You are in the WRONG city.

Polite = doormat here. Bunch of neanderthals, they are.

omfg, women in New England are NOT more physically attractive than ... anyone.

A ripped shirtless guy (who works outside) walked into the King Farm gas station at about 3 pm today. I was very surprised and wondered if they would kick him out (no shirt, no service, etc.)

I was on my way out and he thanked me for holding the door. I love living in Rockville if it means I get to see this!
