why are all the men in Chevy Chase DC so darn unattractive?

Well I live in Silver Spring... Hope that helps.

They sure don't live in crunchy Town of Vienna. Good-looking younger straight guys inhabit Capitol Hill, Columbia Heights and Clarendon. Older divorced cute guys live in Potomac, McLean and Great Falls. Married and looking to cheat Generation X cute guys are in pockets of Oakton and out in Loudoun County. Not from personal experience mind you.

Great, so my immediately surrounding areas (CCDC, Bethesda, AU Park) are full of fuglies.

Georgetown too. Think thin, pasty pale effete attorneys with receding hairlines, horn-rimmed glasses, and pale watery eyes (too many cocktails).

It's a sad, sad state. The men in Upper NW DC need some work. Go outside, get a tan, go for a run. I'm happily married and not looking to cheat on my husband, but a little eye candy while at the playground wouldn't be unwelcome.

Let's face it...we're not dealing with genetic all-stars in any quadrant of this city. Slim pickins'

And of course the ladies posting here all catches, every last one of them.

SO funny, my DH and I were just talking about this the other day and that all of the dads in DS's school are rather unattractive as are most of the husbands in our circle of friends. I can count on one hand the number of decent looking eye candy worthy dads we know (so sad, it's only three!!). And we live in CC DC.

My DH isn't in the best of shape either post kids but at least he does a lot of the lawn work and is sporting a farmer tan (though I am always on his back about sunscreen!!).

I would say that most of the dads/husbands in our group of friend, and quite a few at DD's day care happen to be on the 6+ side of the attractive scale. Maybe I am just lucky. We are in Georgetown/downtown day care.

PP here -
We are also in our late 20's-early 30's.

It's a trade off. If you want to be able to afford to live in CC DC then you need to accept that your husband will probably spend less time in gym and more time working.

I'm sure most of the men who can afford to live there console themselves in the arms of some nubile young woman who likes their money.

THANK you. It's this.

I've lived in CC DC a long time now, maybe 15 years. If you're the kind of guy, and gal, that is going to pay the going rate in much of 20015, then you do not have a 9 to 4:45 job. You don't take days here and there to play frisbee in the park, just 'cuz. You don't announce that from here on out, you'll be coming in at 11 a.m. instead because you want to train properly for the triathalon next spring.

Of course there are exceptions, and old-timers who bought in 1985 for $137,000, but by and large all my neighbors here in CC DC are lawyers and journalists and policy wonkers who work very long hours because they must. I'm one of them and if I told my boss that I'm going to start taking 2 hour lunches to lift weights and get some sun, that would be the last week of my employment there.

I am going to tread super lightly here and be vague, hopefully. CC DC is home to many men and women who belong to a particular sub-group of Americans who tend to be not conventionally cute, robust and hot. Fact.

For all you know, I'm referring to Americans whose names start with the letter 'M,' so just save your flaming energy.

Why are all the men in CC DC so unattractive? Because my husband and I moved out of the neighborhood a few years ago. You're now missing out on some serious eye-candy. Super low body fat, amazing athlete, muscle everywhere (in a good, but not Jersey Shore, sort of way). Wish I could say my physique is equally lovely...eh, maybe sometime after I deliver this baby I'm carrying.
