44, single (divorced), living in a 2500 sq ft SFH in the exurbs on almost 3/4 acre of land. Bought for $385,000 in 2003, probably worth about $585,000 now. Also own a vacation home (outright, no mortgage) worth about $200,000.

32 & 33. 1600 sq ft SFH in Hyattsville for 400k. 180k HHI now, but I think our income was around 150k when we bought.

We do have friends who own million+ rowhomes/condos/SFH in DC and NYC. They are either a) dual income households with at least one doctor or big law lawyer b)work in finance or c) are 1%ers living in outrageously expensive homes (like 7mil condos in Tribeca) that are owned by their families. The ones who are single have been in their finance careers since we graduated from college, so have had high salaries for a while.

37 and 39. 3,700 sqft stone 1920s colonial. Classic central hall. Graceful and lovely house. Lovely older neighborhood with beautiful houses and many amenities and good schools nearby. We consider ourselves well-situated and fortunate. No desire for anything bigger.

*Not DC. Former DCer's who cashed out and were able to buy this house in a secondary market.
