FB question: If a person's account was deactivated, does that mean they unfriended you?

When someone deactivates an account on FB, your friend count drops as well.

Some people just need a 'break' from fb.

What does deactivation for "failure to verify account information"??? Someone who has asked for money on the other end???
Anonymous
Sometimes people do this when they are job-hunting or doing something else that requires less of a social media presence. I also have friends who have taken breaks from Facebook for Lent, etc. Then a month or two later, they're back on.

Failure to verify account information probably means that FB thinks this person is a troll or phishing or an identity thief.

Could deactivate also mean that the person has died and the family has closed that persons facebook?

Actually, all you need to do is upload "purity" to your FB account. You will be told whenever a person drops off (for whatever reason) off your page. In fact, you will receive multiple messages about this person dropping off your page. Usually, they are people I don't know who came on to the page as a friend of a friend.

If you deactivate on Facebook, messenger works the same unless they also deactivate messenger.

Recently I deactivated Facebook and then someone sent me some messages that I felt were fishing for my interest/susceptibility to an affair (I’m happily married, thanks). So I blocked the person in Facebook messenger. If this is you, seriously, I’m not interested, but didn’t want to embarrass you so I just pretended I didn’t know what you were saying and then blocked you right after our conversation. Now go the hell away.

I know someone who deactivated regularlybwhen work piles up and then reactivates. I thought it was bizarre at first too.

And some folks get off facebook from time to time when it becomes too much for them. (like if they're having a hard time financially and their friends tend to post about exotic trips and fancy dinners out.)

If their settings restrict their page to “friends only,” then is all the prospective employers can see profile pictures?

If she broke one of the TOS Facebook might have deativated her account for X amount of days/weeks/months. Also, when someone deactivates their account, it doesn't tell anyone that. You just can't view their profile or message them anymore.

One way to permanently delete your Facebook account is to delete everything you wrote and pictures you posted and unfriend everyone. Then deactivate your account. That way you don't have any reason to be tempted back in to Facebook again and then Facebook doesn't have all of your private data like pictures.

Yeah, my cousin does that. Drama.

When they reactivate their account, you should still be friends. A friend of mine had to deactivate hers because she was being harassed by someone. When she reactivated it, we were still friends. She didn't need to send another request.

I deactivated mine 2 years ago when I finished grad school. Moved cross country and started fresh without it. I logged back in for about an hour a few weeks ago, then deactivated again. There's nothing worth my time there.
