Suggestions of a specific location to open a frozen yogurt chain in Northern Va

I think you're at the tail end of this trend.

Where is Pinkberry? At the mall?

Downtown McLean would be perfect. Tons of HS kids walk to Starbucks, 7-11, etc. If this is a self-serve place (Is it Sweet Frog??), this is different than what they offer at Sweetleaf and Greenberry. Our family, and our HS DD & friends, would love it. Just make sure it is walking distance to McLean HS.

Unfortunately, I agree with PPs. The market is saturated and in the coming years its easy to predict some will start closing down.

Instead of looking close in, you might want to looking as far out as your territory allows. Or even requesting a change. Smaller towns out near Front Royal, Winchester, Martinsburg - novelty places like this seem to have a longer life.

The frozen yogurt thing was big many years ago when TCBY came on the scene. For a few years, it was a huge deal but eventually it faded out.

+1 to this. I remember TCBY being in Front Royal.

A quick glance on Yelp and Google shows Front Royal doesn't have a froyo place yet -- there's Spelunker's (a local version of Tastee-Freez that also does burgers) and B&L Kustard (I don't know if that's even open outside May-October or not.)

Winchester has a sweetFrog, but there's room between Winchester and Frederick (VA) County for two froyo places.

You can call various town Chambers of Commerce.

Some franchising outfits will be of more help than others but that help may cost $$$.

Why not DC!!!! I would love it in DC....we don't have any. It's all cupcakes, cupcakes and more cupcakes.

Chesterbrook shopping center on Old Dominion

I would love to hear if people knew of a shopping center that did not have one and thought it may be successful. Where have you gone and said, "ah, I wish I could get some froyo"? What locations do you think would be successful? Ideally in the Falls Church/Arlington area, but I'm open to anywhere in Northern Virginia.

It needs to have ample parking and probably around 1400 - 2000 sq ft. Please let me know if you know of any available space or strip centers or other locations that you think may work. Thanks!

You've answered your own question .

+1 -- there are no places like this that I am aware of along Main Street/Little River Turnpike.

Pinkberry is at the corner of the rite aid/hallmark stores, facing 123. If you haven't noticed it, that's one of their problems.
But I like the Chesterbrook shopping center suggestion.

Westover Villagr, if the rent is not too high. There are several restaurants, plentiful parking, and lots of foot traffic. Supposedly they are opening an Italian Store soon. There is one ice cream place there but it's crappy.

There's one in the Trader Joe's shopping center across from Woodson. But I agree that we could use one in Old Town Fairfax.

There is a sweetchills in old town fairfax (diagonally across from the library).

Yeah but the TCBY-type froyo is totally different from what they serve at Pinkberry, Sweetfrog, etc. Up until last year I hadn't eaten froyo in a decade, now I go to Sweetfrog once a week or so. It's tangier and more yogurty tasting, where TCBY was more like fake ice cream. All of these new places are capitalizing on the popularity of the new kind of froyo, which originally became trendy in NY and LA a few years ago. It's really a totally different thing than TCBY.

I agree that the new froyo is different. I don't like it at all. Which is fine because I'm not temped to eat it!

did someone say Ballston? No FroYo there and it would be a good addition to wine, beer, burgers and wings. and pizza. See how it fits?
