Don't like Ann curry as cohost

I like her a little but when she gets serious the sexy man voice is annoying.

I've always hated her. I call her Ann "Lean In" Curry because she has this way of leaning in toward someone she is interviewing to feign empathy. While grabbing her chin. Could that LOOK more fake, seriously? I hate to be so critical, I hate when people pick apart women in a way they would never pick apart a man, but I can't help myself. She is just that awful. I love Natalie. I also like Matt. Oh and I'm with the pp who said they change the channel when she does an interview. SO uncomfortable!

I thought I was the only one! I can barely watch the today show and that other program she hosts, it all seems so forced and the tone of her voice is just awful.

i like ann but not for this cohost gig. i could take her in doses during the newsdesk segment, but as cohost, nahhhh! i agree w/the poster who mentioned the "lean in". Also, her posture is just horrendous and it makes her look not so sure and confident. I'm sure leaning and bending and hunching makes her feel sympathetic but it doesn't. even when its just the other cohosts she hunches like she's trying not to be noticed or something. it looks really bad.

She is a phony. Years ago I was watching her interview someone whose name she pronounced incorrectly. She also said the woman was from some town which was also incorrect. The woman corrected Anne on the correct pronouciation of her name and the name of the town she was born. Anne says "thanks for correcting me, on air" in a snide bitchy tone. So the woman is just supposed to sit there and let you pronounce her name wrong/say she was from the wrong town for the entire interview? That Anne...What a b@itch, get your info correct before you go on air and you wont have to be corrected on air.

You hit the nail on the head! She thinks leaning in closer makes it look like she cares. Andm why does Clooney and Jolie keep giving her interviews? It kills me. I wish every day Natalie would have gotten the job.

Although I can completely understand the Ann Curry haters, I actually like her a lot. I think she actually is sincere but comes across as a fake. I also think she is incredibly beautiful and perhaps that influences my opinion, as much as I hate to admit it.

I like Ann Curry, to be honest I think she has to dumb herself down for the show. She is truly a journalist, not a tv personality-there is a major difference and I think for some reason, maybe race or sex, whatever, she is doing her best to fit the role that the network thinks the public wants her to be.

Ann's reporting from Antarctica boosted her stock, the viewers sympathized with her when she was stuck there for days. She is obviously is a skilled field journalist who is also beautiful, poised and intelligent. On paper she sounds like the perfect cohost. Unfortunately she is also uptight, nervous and robotic. She can interview dignitaries and politicians but struggles when she is forced to go "off script" or put herself in the viewers chair.

As others have noted the 'lean in" seems forced, as does the cringe worthy "whisper" she uses to feign sympathy. Two examples of really bad interviews:The Octomom and her children and any interview where talks to someone who has lost a loved one. I'll never forget when she whispered a question to a man who'd lost his wife and he responded in a normal voice and gave her a puzzled look.

Natalie is also robotic but seems more relaxed than Ann ..but that's not saying much. It's no surprise they were both passed over the first time. Heck I like Hoda better than both of them!

Loved Meredith Viera. Anne doesn't fill her shoes very well for day-to-day stuff, but she's really impressive for her reporting on Somalia and other significant disasters. I think that's where she's very genuine, and that's where she really shines.
