New mom kicked out of Uber

It looks like that route ends on the highway.

It was 3 hours between the dropoff and the accident. No way the Uber driver is responsible.

The family's story doesn't make sense. Were all the passengers kicked out? If so, where were they when the police responded to the accident? If not, how did they let it happen?

If the mom was kicked out of the Uber at 1 am, maybe the father/DH went home rather than get out with his wife - the 8 month old baby was presumably with a sitter or grandparents or someone and maybe he needed to get home to the baby.

If they both got out at the same time, then where was he? Not clear.

This happens over a week ago. Why isn't there more clarity by now? Feels like the family is just angling to try and sue Uber. For all we know the husband pushed her into traffic.

Well, there are witness reports and the car that struck her was unable to avoid hitting her. Whatever happened, it's very sad that an 8 month old baby will never know their mother.

Agree, very sad. Was this the night that there were two pedestrian fatalities on the Beltway? As a driver, this is one of my worst nightmares. I'm so sorry for the family and for the driver who was unable to avoid hitting her.

Because the husband did it.

It could be on the Beltway or it could be off. There are lots of exits/entrances and roads right there.

Uh no. I work around there and there is nothing you can get to there without some looping / curving around.

One of the articles said Vanessa, her husband, and another friend were all in the Uber and were presumably all dropped off at the same time. Was she killed where she was dropped off? Is it possible someone in the car was so wasted that they threw up or spilled alcohol or food in the car or had another type of incident, the driver got mad and made them all leave, and then they got separated on 495 and Vanessa was struck? Was her husband there at the time? Maybe they had a fight and he went home without her?

If the wife got kicked out on the beltway and the husband stayed in the car, wouldn't he have called the police? I can't imagine a situation in which someone I loved got out of a car on the beltway in the middle of the night and I just continue going about my business.

Yes I think it was the night where there were 2 unrelated pedestrian fatalities. Unless the other one is related and they aren’t confirming it at this point …

It does look like that but even the police said she was not dropped off on the highway. Maybe the driver ended the trip for some reason before dropping them off? Like someone puked in the car, he stops the trip, pulls off the highway, and kicks them out.

The passenger can also end the trip from the app.

She was dropped off on the highway? Why did her husband allow that to happen? Unless she insisted on getting out alone?

Yes, that night.

The earliest articles said she got out of the Uber on the Beltway.

Really confusing. All I could think was that there had to be alcohol involved.

From the Daily Mail article posted in the OP, it sounds like the husband's brother claims Vanessa and her husband were both kicked out of the Uber on the beltway. Police say now (3 days after the incident/start of investigation) that they have no evidence that she was dropped off/kicked out on the beltway.

It's hard not to be suspicious of the husband given the lack of info, plus his funeral comments . . .
