New mom kicked out of Uber

Anonymous
Anyone else following the story? It’s so confusing! First of all, the incident is absolutely devastating as it was her first night out after having a baby. The story is very ambiguous but sounds like they got kicked out of the Uber and somehow she ended up on 495 getting hit by a car and killed. But they’re trying to figure out how/why. Wouldn’t the husband who was with her know?

Weird story. And of course very sad. Why was she on the interstate alone? Why weren’t the husband and friend with her? Something doesn’t add up.

Very sad, but a lot of the story doesn't add up at all.

That is very sad but this detail is strange: Unverified Uber receipts showed that she had been dropped off by her Uber at 1am - hours before she was hit by the cart at 4am on March 10. The three-hour window is not explained.

Sounds like they had an argument, maybe they were drunk, and this is what ensued.

If that is the case, I can’t believe that husband has to live with that for the rest of his life! Brutal.

This is obviously a very sad story and I can imagine why the family wants to pin blame on someone but I’m sure their devices will show who was where and when.

Uber/Beltway experts, interpret this picture.

It looks like that route ends on the highway.

Ubers have internal cameras don't they?

Nothing in the story from the husband or friend? None of this makes sense

It could be on the Beltway or it could be off. There are lots of exits/entrances and roads right there.

So sad.

None of it makes sense.

Someone is lying and my guess is the DH.

Why in the world was she walking towards 495 by herself.

Yeah, what happened between the drop off and accident?

“ Vanessa's devastated family have laid the blame on the Uber driver, who has been suspended amid an investigation by Uber but has not been charged, as her brother-in-law said it was a 'preventable situation.'

Unverified Uber receipts showed that she had been dropped off by her Uber at 1am - hours before she was hit by the cart at 4am on March 10. The three-hour window is not explained.

However, Virginia state police have said there is 'no evidence' she was abandoned on the highway, and 'it appears she made her way to the interstate from a secondary roadway.“

It does look like that but even the police said she was not dropped off on the highway. Maybe the driver ended the trip for some reason before dropping them off? Like someone puked in the car, he stops the trip, pulls off the highway, and kicks them out.
