The allegation is assault, not an indiscretion.

There's a great Norman Fell quote that comes to mind: "Lust's passion will be served; it demands, it militates, it tyrannizes."

Can we leave Mr. Roper out of this? We’re talking about Mr. Groper.

“She was wearing a miniskirt”……”she was walking alone late at night”…..

The old “blaming-the-victim” now applied to s man.

What hypocrites! Matt has promised he won’t do it again. Doesn’t he deserve a second chance?

CPAC founder grovels amid groping claims: 'Kevin McCarthy is not coming to CPAC; I wish he would'

"Kevin McCarthy is not coming to CPAC; I wish he would," Schlapp said.

"[I]t remains to be seen if and how Fox News will cover the annual right-wing confab amid CPAC boss Matt Schlapp's alleged groping scandal," the report said.

McCarthy is too scared to attend.

Allegations like this go waaay back. It’s a Democrat staple

Scared of what? There are no non-insane people speaking. It’s like Bolsonaro and Mike Lindell.

The accuser worked for Herschel Walker’s campaign.

For the people who seem to be thoroughly unfamiliar with the accusations against Matt Schlapp due to their insulated media bubble, there’s a thread for that here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1104149.page

I think it's weird and inappropriate that OP and others are mocking the fact this happened between two men. We are past that era where that should induce any shame, for one. And more importantly, making light of what sounds like an allegedly horrible assault is just gross.

When did he "promise he won't do it again"? He won't even admit that it happened. Accept your truth, apologize and take responsibility. But we all know he won't.

Actions have consequences bro.

I'm not sure about the others but the OP doesn't seem to be making light of the situation at all.

There's nothing wrong with men attracted to other men. He sexually assaulted other men. That's very wrong. He's so filled with repression and shame about his closeted homosexuality that his outlet for it is to use his position of power to grope people and get away with it. That's also very wrong. It's abuse of power in addition to sexual assault and sexual harassment in the workplace.

He's trying to salvage his career instead of just coming out of the closet. He's trying to promise he's really just a straight man. Ah yes, that straight urge to touch other men. Republicans that push gay people to pretend they're straight are the worst. No one is going to believe he's straight at this point.

I'm not sure his sexuality is the most important issue. If the allegations are true, he violently assaulted someone. I didnt know Schlapp's name prior to this or why you think he is especially homophobic, but I dont think you are the victim here.

So people do sexually assault others even when they aren't ashamed of their sexuality but in this case, I'd wager that his repression is what leads to this behavior. If he could just go out to a gay bar and pick someone up, he wouldn't have done this.

So it's not so much the sexuality that's the important issue, obviously that's the assault but this assault was propelled by his shame and repression combined with a propensity to grope people.
