Need a foundation that won't break me out

The Clinique poster, could you please tell us what concealer you've been using? I looked them up at Clinique web site, it looks like there's more than one brand. Thanks!

If the Clinique doesn't work (and I'm crossing fingers that it does) ... I'm a big fan of MAC and have gotten frequent compliments on my skin which is splotchy when I'm not wearing foundation. They've got several lines but go with the one that is water based - it's really light weight. I also love their translucent powder to finish everything off.

OP here--the Clinque broke me out too. That is going back. I am going to try the LM Oil free and maybe Trish M. minerals this weekend. Then maybe MAC.

This is so frustrating.

Its a little expensive but its my one make-up splurge. I use my hands to apply for sheer coverage or a sponge for a little more coverage and finish up with he powder. I never fell like I have any make up on. Plus it has SPF.

If you go to Sephora they will give you a sample although I am not sure how long the testers have been sitting out and Iwould hate you for to have a bad experience because of old make-up

Another Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer fan (actually bought it based on a recommendation on this board). I have been using it for a year and have had no breakout problems. In fact I probably use fewer overall products now since it combines sunscreen, moisturizer and foundation in one. It is sheer but I have splotchy skin and it still does a really nice job of evening it out.

I wonder if you need to give yourself more of a break between all these products? Maybe the switching is irritating? Obviously if your eyes are puffing up that's not good (I spent $50 on an eye cream once and could barely see the day after I put it on, obviously that one went in the trash).

Bare Essentuals sucks. It looks thick on everybody, and it contains cornstarch which makes you break out.

Laura Mercier makes a great foundation. Good tinted moisturizer, too. But a great foundation.

I also have sensitive/acne prone skin and love Laura Mercier oil free foundation. I have used it for years and love it!

I am loving the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation right now, but I haven't ever had a problem with breaking out. I used to work for Clinique and we used Stay-True for people with breakout problems. It's one of the older formulas so it may not have as much silicone as the newer ones. Silicone helps the product glide on smoother, but I think some people are sensitive to it. You might be one of them. If you haven't already, try the Stay-True. And it sounds like you're not a reluctant returner, so just return it if it doesn't work. I was amazed at how many women would continue to use a product they disliked because they didn't know they could return it.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer looks great on, but it broke me otu (I'm not the OP). I am on the hunt for a good foundation as well. Maybe I'll try Clinique too.

It's the OP...after 5 days LM broke me out. Tried Smashbox it broke me out day 1. Today I am on to Shiseido.

I use this too-I have terrible hormonal breakouts and they are not aggravated by this. Very natural looking too.

Anonymous wrote:Hi,

Almost every foundation makes me break out. I found two over the years that don't break me out but 1) Prescriptives is out of business 2) Arbonne just changed their formula and the new foundation just broke me out.

I have tried Bobbi Brown oil free and the Nars Matte Finish. Bobbi Brown broke me out horribly and just bought the Nars and I got white heads on day one.

Any ideas? I am thinking about the Laura Merier oil free.

Thanks

Prescriptives looks like it is still up and running, at least on the Web. If you know your shade, you could order direct. FYI they are an Estee Lauder co--maybe Origins (another Lauder co. or Estee Lauder brand will have a comparable foundation.

OP it may not be the foundation but your soap. I ran out of my normal expensive facial cleanser and used the anti-bacterial softsoap we have for handwashing for a few weeks. I was really amazed at the difference.

Hi,

OP here, I have checked the website and it is totally sold out.

I am sure it is the foundations and not my soap. As soon as I get the product off my face and then don't use it...my face clears up. Hoping Shiseido that I have on today will work.

I used Origins years ago and it too gave me acne. It is totally my weird skin!
