They just resumed their political hostage taking. In this case: defund IRS or Israel doesn't get aid. |
"We'll help Israel fight terrorism but only if rich people can keep cheating on their taxes" - great messaging. |
This actually would cost the US treasury around $30 Billion because the IRS is revenue positive. So overall, the GOP deal is forgo $30B in income and spend an additional 15 billion dollars for Israel. |
Aren’t they usually complaining about the debt or the deficit or some combination of the two? |
The GOP has no policy positions. Whatever comes out their mouths is an incoherent amalgamation of lobbying pressure. None of it has any internal logic.
Johnson’s lack of experience will quickly ground all of us. His Israel bill will go nowhere and he’s wasting time with it. Time which he doesn’t have much of. |
I think the amount budgeted for hiring additional personnel for the IRS is $80 billion.
Since we are extremely in debt (over $33 trillion), I think it is good for our lawmakers look for places to cut in order to fund more important priorities. This seems like a no brainer to me. |
Let’s start with cutting ag and fossil fuel subsidies then. IRS funding increases revenue. Seems like a no brainer to me. |
Don't forget ethanol! |
IRS spending brings in more revenue than it costs. So what you're proposing is making the deficit worse. |
You know know that for every dollar the gov't spends they get something like $3 back. So that is a net positive. Not sure why you think INCREASING the deficit is a no brainer. |
Yeah. His grandstanding might be entertaining if we weren't facing a tight deadline. Shutdown for the holidays? That's the best the GOP can do? |
The proposal is already dead. Less than one Scarmuchi! Congrats MAGA. |
No, it is not functioning. |
The IRS is revenue positive. It brings in more money than it spends. This has nothing to do with lowering spending or debt. It's the GOP once again serving the interests of the wealthy before the interests of the country. It's in everyone's interest for rich people to pay their taxes. The IRS helps make sure that happens (barely). |
I'm always amazed people like you can be so boldly uninformed and incorrect, and that you people vote. Scary. |
