Real education hurts some peoples feelings
Feelings come first until the printed dollar loses clout. Real education will return as hardship ratchets up. |
Made there, but not invented there… |
Why aren't they smart enough to figure out how to post properly? |
Second to market makes the most money. |
OMG the Chinese crushes us in so many subjects - engineering, education, infrastructure, transportation, technology. The US is really good at sales. That's pretty much it. I don't even know that we are awesome at inventing any more. We may have a hand in inventing things but def as a partner with other scientists based in foreign lands. Even if American, odds are it's an immigrant or 2nd generation American. But what kind of inventions are you talking about - cause the Chinese invented gun powder, the compass, paper, printing... not sucking in inventions! |
Well I was talking about the last century, but you want to keep wanking off to the majesty of China’s many millennia of culture, so go off queen! |
So true. And shameful. |
Do you know who crushes the Chinese in engineering and math? Asian-Americans. God bless them. |
Ethnic Chinese in America outscore ethnic Chinese in China. Whites in America outscore whites in Europe. Sounds like it isn’t American education that is the problem. |
Paper? Lol, the Chinese haven’t invented a single invention in 1,000 years. They’re good at rote memorization and practice, but they completely lack in creativity. Who cares if the average Chinese kid is smarter than the average American one. That’s irrelevant for a society. We don’t need a populace of above average people, we need a few geniuses to make inventions, and revolutionize our lives. Something about our culture allows those few to flourish, whereas the Chinese one does not. |
Ask any STEM professor at a college in the US with a big cohort of Chinese nationals. There is often a major academic dishonesty problem in that group. Not to say that there aren’t some brilliant kids, but the cheating is out of control. |
Agreed. They cheat at everything. |
I'm sorry but that is BS- the EU countries that are on the frontlines have to step it up and they can ax their generous welfare policies. I work with refugees and almost uniformly the US is the last country they want to immigrate to b/c the generous welfare in CA, EU countries. It was fine for us to be footing the bill when our own education system and infrastructure was 2nd to none but why are we still pretending to the the rich uncle and subsidize our allies education and infrastructure and healthcare while their kids take our kids jobs. And yes- if teh recruiters are looking for LSE grads, then those kids are taking our kids' jobs. all of these other countries's citizens are in just as much or more danger from foreign aggression, why do they deserve to have low/cost free healthcare, low cost/free university, guaranteed parental leave, guaranteed housing for families but we dont. Arent teh frecn in just as much of pickle from Russian aggression as us? Arent the Japanese in just as much danger as us from North Korea? Why do poor French and Japanese kids go to school without leaded water and black mold in the classrooms but American children suffer? Why are American families more concerned with the national security of the Danes and the Dutch and sacrificing for it when the Dutch are making no sacrifices, should they be suffering for their own security more than Americans are? |
Extend that observation to the finance and real estate sectors in China. You can only keep the lie going for a limited period of time, then reality shows up in a nasty way. |
Wait, you don't think there's corruption and cheating going on in the US too? You really think the US is a culture of honesty? Have you heard of capitalism? Do you get why our healthcare sucks? You are a moron if you think the US is in any moral high ground. Just because we do things in a different way and publicly would never be crude does not Jake us better. The US definitely has a certain stand in terms of protocols but give me a break, our whole culture is about winning.
The other thing is, to suggest the US leads in education in any sense is a lie. Culturally I agree that we foster a sense of innovation. But when it comes down to doing the work, culturally the US comparatively to others, fail. We like to do high profile, sales. American culture is not into the actual nuts and bolts. American born Chinese are highly educated as are immigrants in general. That they shine so brightly is because culturally Asian culture and many other cultures stress the need for detail. This is where the studying comes in. This is where the US education system fails. |
