2024 Girls Lax WCAC ISL Outlook

Come on people. We are better than this.

Visi beats sssas by six on Thursday.
Potomac will be upset in first round of ISL playoffs by Holton Arms having higher academics.
Sr blasts sssas in semis by 10 setting up championship between visi and sr.

Sr wins in triple overtime but Yorktown awarded the trophy because most of the players should have attended Yorktown.

Thank you for this - you win the internet today and gave me a good chuckle!

WCAC - no question GC

DC - Visi but it will be close

VA - St. Anns

Going with Potomac for VA

VISAA - Anyone but STAB would be a serious upset.

Oh so true. It’s a transparent ploy to try and be egalitarian no matter the utter ignorance of accuracy. Can’t have the public school parents upset after all, even at the expense of reality. Yorktown would be unlikely to even place in the AA tier of the ISL and would rank at the bottom of the WCAC.

Sounds like it's the clueless private school parents who are upset that a public had the temerity to be mentioned in the same local poll. And through no fault of coach Kim, Yorktown would be the best team in the DMV if the strongest players in her school district didn't decamp to the privates.

And people who actually follow the sport look to USA Lacrosse, Inside lacrosse, or other sources for more accurate polling; no one cares about the WaPo polls except for the aged out mean girls on this site. .

None of those polls do DC-area lists so that doesn’t make any sense.

Neither does your point about how Yorktown would be a top DMV team if players were forced to live in some dystopian school system where kids are required to attend a designated school … Yikes. (For kicks, without naming names, please share what privates these elite impact Yorktown-districted players have ”defected.”)

You’ve offered no argument to contest the point that Yorktown shouldn’t be ranked. It sorta sounds like you actually agree.

Currently there are girls from the Yorktown district playing for Visi, SSSA, Potomac, SR, and I think SJC. Take those girls from the privates and those teams would be weakened while Yorktown is strengthened. Despite annually losing talent to the privates, Yorktown has been crushing the public opposition this year.
And it seems petty for people to be upset that the WaPo has them ranked...so what if a team having a good year gets a shout out?

1. Getting a "shout out" as an underserved ranking is not right. It like the illinois privates getting national rankings eventhough their schedule difficultly is way below that of east coast teams.

I disagree. Lacrosse is the only sport that sticks the 5th best team in a league in a top 20 poll. Basketball doesn't do it, football doesn't do it (and the SEC really wants to), baseball doesn't do it and soccer doesn't do it.

The best local MD and VA public school team should be in a top 10 (with 8 private schools). Otherwise, lacrosse is just some regional game.

This doesn't make any sense. But anyway this chain is over! We have moved on to the topic, remaining games and playoffs for WCAC and ISL teams, which YT is definitely not.

Going with Potomac where? Home? They are not getting a sniff of the championship game or even close to being in around it.

Given SSSAS upset over BI it will be interesting to see how the final Division 1 ViSAA rankings change.

Assuming SSSAS jumps Potomac and BI, that sets up the following matchups: Stab v Norfolk, SSSAS v St Catherines, BI v PVI, and Potomac v Collegiate. Don't see any upsets in those matchups which gives you Stab v Potomac and SSSAS v Ireton. Could Potomac beat two of these three teams back to back? Possibly, but history is working against them. Only Potomac has lost to all three possible matchups this season. It would undoubtedly be an epic run if Potomac could pull it off. The more likely outcome based on season results is STAB v SSSAS, but as the old saying goes, you've got to win it on the field.....unless, of course, you are talking about a School Girl tryout, and in that case, it's won in envelopes slipped in the parking lot. - Washington Post Staff Writer

Ireton is in a free fall losing 4 of their last 6 by combined scores of 25-62. Don't see them making much noise in WCAC playoffs. They are definitely not heading into post season with positive momentum. SJC vs GC in WCAC finals.

i think the Visi vs. SSSA game is a potential upset. Saints have been on a little heater over the past month beating Potomac/BI/Milton. they have adjusted their game from the loss of their standout players due to injury. Even though Visi beat Stone Ridge recently their other games have been against weaker teams in the past few matchups. Visi will have to step it up to take down the Saints. Still think that Vis wins but it could be a shocker as well !

Can someone tell me if their girls have had a good experience playing at SR or Visitation. My youngest wants to apply and I'm hearing mixed things. Do they coaches really pick favorites? A few friends I know have daughters who used to play lacrosse but are no longer playing because of how horrible they felt HS lacrosse was run. I'm not trying to stir the pot. Just interested in hearing how things have been for your daughter whether JV or Varsity the past 3 years or so.

Interesting analysis. I will stick with Visi wining this one though. Saints are too young.

Visi 6
SSSAS 3

Visi coach gives KJ a little bit of her own medicine and controls game with multi-minute possessions. Then holds ball last 4 minutes.

what is crazy is if Saints pull upset there will potentially be a 3 way tie for the ISL at 6-1. this has never happened before

This VISI coach is no where in the same league as KJ. They have no biz being on the sideline. The way he treats them and what he says is deplorable. No talent coaching that thinks yelling and screaming will win the game. He has talented players but KJ is the GOAT!

It’s all great at Sssa. KJ is so kind to her players. She never yells. Everything is so fair. Everyone should be dying to get their kid in that program. And she loves to sub.

So very easy to pass such judgment from your lofty perch in the stands. Question...Do you have any idea what his players think of him as a coach? That's what matters. Not what some wannabe know-it-all thinks. And apparently, his results kinda speak for themselves. Let's just see how the GOAT does this afternoon.
