Maybe I will just have half of each now and other when kids get up from nap. Dollar store has plastic hangers in every color of rainbow and am going to buy a half dozen. Also it has plastic bowls (2 for $1.00) and I use these once or twice and then toss. Haven't checked but I can probably find a 1/2 lb plastic jar of generic petroleum jelly.

Best thing is, tbese kids love me because I teach them to share and they tell me that I must share my lunch, too.

I think I will also disinfect kitchen sink by pouring a bottle of clorox down drain and throwing it away in plastic trash bag.

Have fun with that quadruple bypass surgery! Maybe you can even aspire to drive around a motorized wheelchair around Walmart while people look at you with disgust.

I don't have time to read the replies, but yes, your MB is now going over the line. I don't think you should be angry about the food issue, and I couldn't say before that she was being extremely controlling since it was just that issue. Now that you have mentioned more, yes, she is very controlling. I love that she is eco friendly, but if she really did want someone that was extreme in their life about it as well, then this should have been dealt with during interviews. What you use on your lips, or the hangers you have at home have nothing to do with your job and the kids. The food does, but the rest does not. You aren't a right fit, so please move on to something else.

I still believe the food issue was completely acceptable, but if your MB is really telling you what to drink from, etc., then you should absolutely resign.

But after reading this, I have to say that I am a whole lot less sympathetic and mighty glad you aren't my nanny. While I think if your MB was that concerned about foods/environment she should have used her interviews to find someone who shared those concerns, and she doesn't sound like a gem of a person to know or work for, you are also intractable. If you think the country is so free that you just get to do whatever you want, whenever and however while at work, I suggest you start your own business. And for everyone's sake, not a child care business.
I'm a nanny and I agree with this. OP sounds selfish and spoiled the the mentality that since it's a free country she can rape and pilage the environment and everyone else just has to live with it. Sadly there are far too many Americans with this piss poor attitude and it's no wonder we're failing as a nation. I stopped buying plastic 3 or more years ago...i use glass food storage containers, lunch bots and wax bags for lunches that won't need to be microwaved, and kleen kanteen bottles. It's so much better on so many levels. All I can say OP is stay in whatever midwestern cave you live in because you would not fit in anywhere else, and stay the eff away from the west coast. We don't need anymore trash.

It is NOT your business what someone else eats or wears. You sound like an entitled, sour puss. You sound like such a charming person.

OP's mb, is that you?

That's not fair. The mb doesn't have a right to dictate very damn thing OP uses that the mb does not like. I agree with the healthy eating habits, but beyond that is not mb's business.

Sorry, not the OP, but someone who does care about what she puts into her body, and cares about what all the plastic does to the planet. Go to some of the beaches in Hawaii and see what all your plastic bottles are doing to the ocean. Yes, I'm a bit of a tree hugger.

Be a tree hugger, but don't be a self-righteous lunatic.

Caring about how our choices affect the environment, our pocketbooks, and future generations does not make them self righteous, a sour puss, lunatic, or a nut. It manga one is thinking ahead, thinking for themselves instead of being fed BS from advertisers, and it means they're not lazy. People who make simple life style changes that reduce their carbon footprint are better educated, not less, because they know not only how these plastics affect our grievance on pill and the middle east, but how these plastics affect our fertility and risk of various cancers.

People, OP is a troll. A troll who doesn't seem to know when to stop. Her story is complete fiction. Ignore her.

But trying to dictate that other people should make the same choices you make IS self-righteous lunacy.

From the responses received here, it is obvious that people are either for or against something which most certainly clouds their judgement.

I am a nanny who also brings her lunch to work. My employers are Muslims and do not eat meat. However I cannot even fathom what kind of lunch I would bring that didn't contain some meat. Primarily my sandwiches since I do not like cheese or PB & J, etc. While my boss is against killing animals for human consumption on a personal level, she allows me to bring turkey or chicken sandwiches to work. Trust me, her 6 + 8 yr old sons do not sit at the table salivating over my lunch. They happily eat their spicy rice dishes and could care less what the hell I am eating.

For this woman to actually think her kids will be affected by a nanny who munches on Cheetos or Pringles or whatever, etc. is just ludicrous. Kids could care less what their nanny eats. As long as they have their lunches in front of them, they are good. If a child asks about the nanny's lunch, all she has to say is "This is Nanny's lunch and that is your lunch," and leave it at that.

Honestly, in all of my years of working as a private nanny, all of the children who came from homes where healthy eating is strictly enforced already know they are not allowed to eat someone else's food w/out permission from their parents.
I have never seen a child ask their parents for something just because they have seen their nanny eat it.

Y'all are so clueless about children here. Honestly.

No one has a right to tell anyone else what he or she should eat.
To the person who compared someone eating at will to someone committing a crime, your logic is so flawed I won't even try to wrap my head around it.

Some families are against gay marriage for religious/cultural reasons. However, it would be illegal and unethical for them to tell their nanny to "please" not wear a rainbow/pride shirt to work since they don't want their child to be gay.

Focus everyone on the issue here. Power and control. A 37-yr old woman has already been raised by her parents.

So what if she wants to eat Bologna? How does that make her less of a role model for a child? So what if she pierced her tongue over the weekend? Does that mean the child will start asking to pierce her tongue next??

Your responses were very comical. And truthfully....quite uneducated and flawed.

We are supposed to stay on topic.

This has to be the most self righteous and pretentious response of the bunch. Good for you! But you may want to fact check a coupe of your statements.
