Well now aren't you just wonderful to behold.

Chronically late nanny has found the thread

Nanny here. I commute from Virginia to DC and the traffic sucks. But I know that so I make sure to leave myself plenty of time. I’m always early . She knows the traffic is bad but on her own time. Tell her you aren't paying her or she needs to find another job if it keeps happening as your job requires you to be at work at XXX time and you cannot risk losing your job.
I wouldn't pay 15 min extra in the afternoon or even agree for her to stay more to make up for her lateness.

I'd tell her AGAIN and ONE LAST TIME to be on time ... if not I'd find someone else.

- Nanny here (always on time - leave my hom earlier than expected to plan for traffic etc)
We can’t have her leave early in the afternoon so we’d paying an extra 15 minx5 days which would be more overtime than we already pay.
Readjust her start time. Have her start 15 minutes earlier and then maybe she will actually get there on time. If she can’t get there on time it might be time to find a new nanny. Chronic lateness is unacceptable.
Our nanny of several months shows up 10-15 min late every day. We’ve raised the issue several times and her response is always an excuse related to traffic and that she will stay late. She lives 15 minutes away. It’s causes an overall delay to our routine in the morning for the kids getting to school and for us getting to work on time. What’s the best way to fix this?
OP, time to move on

One is 6 years old and one is 3 years old and they both are boys .
I have to be with them from 2 to 7 or 3 to 7.
The issue is the dad don’t want me to take them out and their home is very tiny. They have very small yard as well.
I always took children out for walk or to the park.
They have lot of energy and to be honest I played with them all day long with blocks and read books for them but at one point I started to have headaches

Mom said she is okay if I take them out but dad said no .

So it’s complicated situation.
Finally dad said I can’t take them out since he has anxiety if something happens to them .
Which doesn’t make sense.
Before I go and do commitment I want advice from folks who are working in same situation.
I am on medication ( mental health so I don’t want to put myself anywhere that I have to deal with stress)
Many thanks

Run as fast as you can
Dad is crazy.

Because you are not paying enough
Pay $30/hr so it's worth their time.

She was Iranian and although she did not say that she was undocumented I have to assume she is since $8 an hour here in California is under minimum wage. I felt so sorry for her!

You should report them but get the nanny out first.

Bull. OP maybe it's time to move on.
Yea, our nanny works Veterans Day because my office does not close those days. We give the Friday after Thanksgiving off in lieu of it. And once we asked our nanny to work a day that was typically holiday but no, time and half is not required.
I think it is very hard for us to weigh in without seeing the specific language in the contract. You say the contract has specified hours but does it reference “guaranteed hours”? For example, the contract with my nanny has 42 hours if you strictly follow the schedule listed but we only guarantee 40. FWIW when our nanny has a sick day or there is a paid holiday; we go ahead and pay her the typical 42 hours, regardless of the fact she only worked 34 of those house because the nanny depends on a regular salary, even though technically by our contract we could just pay her for 40 hours. I do second what others have said and that you should proceed cautiously… in my experience some nannies are hyper focused on pay and taking advantage of employers. But if you clear this up all now, hopefully it is smooth sailing going forward!
