Look, you need to understand that many au pairs are abused. NOT all, but many. Their only recourse is to go back to their country if they report. Yes, some are lucky enough to get a rematch. They should have a designated hotline number to report abuses of the program. The first step is to start documenting what's going on. Why not?? |
No. You need to understand that comparing the Au Pair program, even in its abused state, to SLAVERY is inflammatory and just wrong. These women and men are free to leave their position, they are paid (however paltry) for their services, they have not been stolen from their homes, they do not have their children taken away from them and sold, they are not beaten, they are not property. Just stop with the analogy. It's insulting at best, not to mention incredibly privileged and ignorant. |
