I’m a nanny on the mid Atlantic, but not in the DMV. I charge my hourly rate (or 1.5x my hourly rate if over 8hrs for that particular day), and an overnight fee of $250.00. I’ve done about a dozen or so overnights with my current NF in the 2yrs I’ve been with them and MB doesn’t bat an eye, just adds the fee to my paycheck.

If she is a live in, in DC and VA, they are not paid time and one half.


They must, however, be paid straight time for every hour on duty. It does not matter if kids are asleep or awake.
