Ignore the troll who is too stupid to even quote correctly. He is tiresome and stunningly boring.
I write this as the employer if a wonderful nanny. |
Exactly. Outsourcing your childcare is a luxury! |
Sorry try again. I’m a MB, not a nanny. Also, you have identified yourself as a lawyer. My informal polling of other moms at my firm revealed that most of us are paying $18-20/hour base rate. Are you even in the DC area? |
You had your say, PP. Others disagree with you. Please stop now. |
I'm a MB, and your informal polls are spot on. 8 years ago, when I first started hiring, rates were more like $15-$18/hr.. So, there has been some upward pressure in the nanny market. But most non-shares are not at $25+. |
No one I know pays less than $25 an hour. All agency nannies - our nanny has a degree but I don’t know about the others. We are in Georgetown. |
Most people don't use an agency. FWIW, every agency nanny I interviewed five years ago asked for $25/hr.. We switched to an agency because we needed backup coverage. Families who use an agency are already willing to pay more. |
If you’re using an agency, you are most likely paying $25+. If you don’t, there are plenty of great nanny options in the $12-20 range. |
This is really pathetic that a DCUM poster believes you can get a "great nanny" for $12/hr. What a fool! In my neighborhood you can't even get a high school kid for that. |
I never argue on this forum about hourly rate. If you think you can great a great nanny for $15 to $20 an hour - try. Chances are you will not be able to keep her. Live and learn. We aren’t in DC but pay $27 an hour plus full medical and a leased car that she is free to use on weekends and off hours. |
This! Smart decision. Most nannies won't make a long-term commitment for peanuts, but will take a low-paying job for some income while waiting for something better. Good luck! |
Just curious, where are you located? What you pay is the exception not the norm. There are plenty of very good nannies out there in the DC burbs for $15-20/hour. |
No their aren’t and you aren’t a good employer. Think about it, why would you take a job that pays $15/hr... |
Good luck with that belief. |
Team,
We currently pay $15.00 at the moment, and we live in the Virginia area (Pentagon City).
