| it is also not $2,000 a month. it is $1,160. everyone who is happy to pretend that the family paying taxes for her is giving her a raise is acting like she is taking home that money. she is not. |
Wow...I guess I should’ve known that sarcasm, even with a laughing emoji, would go straight over most of your heads. Damn.

I am not a nanny, I am a parent who pays for childcare. This is completely and utterly insane. I pay $15 for a baby sitter, I would assume a full time nanny should command a much higher salary. To pay a live in nanny minimum wage...absolutely insane. OP, I would try another third world country and sponsor a new live in. You're never going to find an american that is willing to work for such a wage. I made more money than that when I was 16 and waiting tables in a diner.
Also, to the poster who said the nannies in this thread were being "disrespectful," get off your high horse. Why do you think they owe you respect? |
| What about the days they don’t have school or are home sick? You get what you pay for and can give her more to do during day and pay her better |
The schedule provided indicates she's paid for 12 hours/day (7-7) at $7.25 an hour after taxes are taken out, and her compensation includes housing and living expenses. 7.25 x 12 x 5 x 4 = $1,740. I rounded for simplicity sake. |
You don’t believe people should be respectful of others? I get it that it’s an anonymous board for people to vent but I still think there’s no reason to tell someone to “not have children if they can’t afford it”. The concept of affordability and the choice to have children is personal to every family. You need to get off your rude horse. I could add here that you should not have children when you are clearly incapable of teaching them good manners and bring a productive member of society - but I won’t |
| schedule does not indicate she's paid for twelve-that part is ambiguous. it says "free time" |
If your sitter can't accept another job commitment during her "free time", it's not free time. Let's be honest. |
I don't believe that the nannies on here owe the "mom bosses" some kind of special respect, no. And I also don't believe anyone has to show respect for someone who has clearly preyed on an older woman from a third world country. |

No “special respect” called for but the basic respect you accord everyone you encounter seems to fall away pretty fast on an anonymous B.B.
I find most of the nanny attitudes on here to be a bit scary- I certainly would not want such negativity and lack of respect around my kids. I think the people here know this too as I highly doubt they would speak like this in real life. |
True, I assumed since had certain tasks to get done between 9-3:30 and as long as they were done and she was able to pick up kids at 3:40, she could use that time for other things. I'm the PP who suggested a student would be a good fit for this position, I don't think it'd be a good fir for experienced full time nannies based on pay and schedule. A young person who's in school or fresh out of it, without a spouse or children would be a good candidate. |
