The *real* price of an additional child for Nanny RSS feed

Most parents are happy to spend money on their kids provided the value is there. Doubling a nanny's salary because a second child has been born would be a poor parenting decision, because the nanny's value did not double. As a parent, I would rather hire two nannies at $15 per hour so each kid gets full time, age-appropriate attention than pay one nanny $30 per hour to care for two kids. But really, it is not necessary to do either in order to get exceptional care, so why wouldn't the parents pay the standard $1-$2 raise and then put the difference away for college, camps, family trips that will enrich the kids, classes, or whatever? The nannies who try to try to convince people that parents who love their kids will throw endless money at nannies are just not very sophisticated, I'm afraid.

Parents, just like corporation, are looking to get off on somebody, double work for meagre pay. The sad thing is the parents who are fair and just and far and few, while the Rockefeller mentality ones are everywhere. Just face the fact that a nanny does not fit your budget anymore and stop taking advantage of these women.

Unfortunately until the majority of nannies get their shit together and learn their worth, cheap families will continually drive the rate down.

Has anyone here said that a new baby should double Nanny's wage?

Not double, but an additional baby is certainly worth more than 2 or 3 dollars an hour.
