The only person who called it a "professional journal" is the MB who was planning to buy a subscription for her nanny as a "gift". Its not a professional journal, but it is a professional venture (at least that's what they'd like us to believe) and the people associated with it ought to conduct themselves professionally. That means choosing the people to represent you wisely, and when people misrepresent you, you disassociate. Nanny Magazine has done none of those things.

The girls who misrepresented them deserve a break. Would your MB fire you if you messed up a little on your first day of the job? Isn't that basically what happened here? NM is new and this was their first time going to this conference. cut them some slack and learn what forgiveness is all about. Plus just because the people who represent them made a mistake doesn't mean it wasn't dealt with privately behind closed doors. Would you want to get fired because you messed up once? From what I know it was one psycho nanny from Michigan who physically assaulted the Nm staff. She should have been arrested and should have her MB know that someone who physically assaulted an adult should not be allowed to work with children who presumably cannot defend themselves.

OMG. What was the story behind that? Why did the nanny attack the staff?

There was a nanny who traveled to the conference and physically assaulted a staff person of NM. It in unknown why but I would fear for the safety of the children she watches. Quite frankly I think it's sad that people use violence and cruelty to try to make their point.

No not yet but I heard about them on MGN radio today! I think it sounds cool - they seem professional and had answers to all the questions MGN asked. They seem cute. I'd subscribe for sure.

Maybe I will buy the online subscription. It's only $21 and if it turns out to not to be worth it I can cancel it.

Yeah $21 isn't bad. Not like I'd go homeless if I bought it.

Just to clarify- the girl who was "attacked" is not staff for Nanny Magazine. She's an intern from what I had been told by an Editor. Another misinformation, she wasn't attacked. The girl was pushed down from what someone who witnessed told me, and I don't condone physical violence but I guarantee something snide came out of the girls mouth which escalated to the banned nanny pushing her. If she was truly attacked don't you think a police report would have been filed? I feel bad for the two women who created the magazine and sent those girls there to represent them and the magazine. I've read some of the articles that were posted online and they aren't professionally written. These women are nannies, not writers.

Lets start with some facts there was a total of 8 people in the room when this attack happen, three of which I myself watch consume so many drinks that they spilled a box of wine all over the girl next to them. These three girls were seen at the hotel bar around 5pm with giant glasses of wine. The bartender refused to serve them because at this point they were wasted already. All three of these girls were sent to nannypalooza to represent the Nanny Magazine from the executive editors Jennifer and Whitney. After the three girls left the hotel bar they went to a private dinner where they continued to drink another bottle of wine. Around 11pm they came up to a hotel suite (not invited by anyone in the room) and proceeded to drink a box of wine, play games and make complete fools of themselves. At 1am after being asked to leave the room twice and being walk to the door a member of NM grab A MICHIGAN nanny by the wrist while she was standing in the doorway of the room, the person who she touched did physical take her hand off her push and close the door. The reason the 3 drunk girls fell over is simply because they were drunk. After they left the door the proceed to scream at the door..

After being told about this whole issue both Jennifer and Whitney are standing behind them and even promoted one of the three to a better position. I personally find it sad that all girls involved and are watching this thread and commenting Anonymously because they cant stand behind anything they write on here and they all just love love love the drama. It would be a really horrible thing for nanny magaizne if video footage recorded by phone got leaked on Nanny boards (it would be really hard to lie when everyone could see the post this could be on Youtube within minutes) . Nanny Magazine was also warned and served with papers that this issue wasn't to be discussed, its sad they aren't professional enough to keep there staff in line...Oh wait they don't care......................................................As a professional nanny of 11 years this is a horrible thing being spread my nanny magazine staff and being encouraged to talk about online.

FYI I am not hiding I am Maria this event happen in my room have a question ask me ? I have nothing to hide and since nanny magazine wants to talk about it you might want to hear the other side too. And before this event i was glad to be a part of NM and was even writing articles for them, and apart of the street team I am truly disgusted by the unprofessional way this whole thing was handled.

The above statement is not true at all there was no attack but the (fall intern at the time who has since been promoted) was the person that physical touched another person if the person wanted to fill a report the intern would have been sent to jail this person felt it was best to let her sleep off how drunk she was

Lets be PERFECTLY CLEAR there was no attack the intern grabbed someones wrist and that person removed her hand and push her out the door and closed it this all happened within 30 seconds....the police weren't called and this shouldn't even be discussed on Nanny boards.

I agree 100%! I always thought the girls involved in this magazine were a little naive and immature, but it was very apparent at Nannypalooza. I wanted to support them, but after that debacle will not be giving them any of my money.

In the interest of disclosure, a friend of mine sent me this because we know one of the editors from college. But as someone who knows a little more of the story, I feel it's important to point out that they were NOT at Nannypalooza. They made the mistake of trusting volunteers to represent them there and apparently issues arose during it(?). It is unfortunate that they couldn't trust (some of) those adults to act like adults, but to judge the entire magazine and its editors on the actions of a couple of volunteers is like judging all of Christianity based solely on the actions of the Westboro Baptist Church members (meaning: don't judge all on the actions of a few).

You are correct the executive editors were not present at nannypalooza but as you stated they couldn't trust adults to act like adults then I wonder if they could answer this...
If this is a huge embarrassment to the magazine why were they not fired? One member was actually promote after this event so how exactly is the business world or anyone suppose to take them or this magazine seriously when they don't act in a professional matter?
