Nanny here.
I make $10/hr with "guaranteed" hours of 50hrs a week for a total flat rate of $550/wk for 52 weeks. I get 3 weeks off a year and all federal holidays, plus my birthday. My charges are school aged. Right now (during the school year) I'm working approx 18rs a week maximum, unless there is a teacher work day. During the summer the kids often go to camp, if not then I work my full 50hrs (it's usually 45). My hours in the summer range from 15-50. With that said, my true hourly rate is $10-$30.50/hr. Works for me, I can get side jobs during the school year, know what to expect and my family can budget accurately. |

Blended rates and your above example end up with nanny getting the exact same $. What don't you get? |
Just be legal and go with your hourly rate plus OT. No need to make it complicated. |
No thank you, because then that one day I'm an hour late and nanny wants me to pay her $30! lol. I could have just asked the neighbor to send her daughter over and paid her $5 to cover that hour. |
Exactly. Every time your weekly hours fluctuate a bit, you have to recalculate your entire devious "blended" pay rate. It's totally asinine. I've seen this nonsense promoted by certain shady nanny agencies. Shame on them. |
OP
If you do not like the payment you are not happy , Look for another job doing something else. You care about many a lot. you are not a good nanny , you just want to make more money . change career . You can make $32 hour an another career. |
PP, This is The United States of America where we have labor laws for you to obey. If you don't want to obey our labor laws, you may go elsewhere to abuse hard-working people. |
