Coupons or not.

What a sorry ass liar she is, to troll as a $10/hr. McLean nanny. Ha!

I'm not a troll and I never even said I made 10 per hr I said I charge between 9-11 per hr. I am currently making 9 per hr. I'm not sure why everyone thinks all people in McLean are super wealthy, the family I work for is middle class. Two working parents who need a nanny.

I believe you. People that aren't skilled at couponing and shopping strategically don't understand how much you can save. Good for you, pp.

No McLean nanny would accept $9/hr. McLean HS kids get much more, lol.

Did they tell you that's all they can afford OR that's all they think you're worth?

I've seen live-in nannies fall into this trap before. MB tells them then we will pay you $X per hour BUT also we provide a room which in McLean goes for $1100 a month, plus a car which is $600 a month, and we will get you a phone which could cost you up to $120 a month!!! So really you are making like $4000 a month by working for us at $9 an hour.

Some nannies just don't understand money.

And some of you just don't understand that for the "privilege" of living in YOUR space, you should be paying us MORE, not less. Where else would I get to listen to all your crap with your husband?

That's my take on it. Sure you don't have rent when you are a live-in, but there is so much negative that goes along with being a live-in that it hardly warrants a reduction in hourly rate.

Question for the LA nannies and MBs on the board:

What would be the minimum you would accept for a 7:00 am-7:00 pm live-in position M-F, including room and board? You would get 3-4 hours free in the middle of the day.

No one can give you a helpful answer, without a ton of details from you. What's your usual hourly rate?

I don't have one, that's why I'm asking. Trying to get an idea.

My rate is the same it doesn't matter if you have 1 or 4 children. I get a bedroom and bathroom preferably on a separate level then the rest of the family and adequate use of a vehicle. Car insurance and health insurance 125 per month paid for as well. My hrs are guaranteed each week and I am willing to bank hrs if that works best for everyone. I am always available for weekend work or date nights with extra pay of course.

You don't say anything what city or your qualifications/experience. High school kids get $10/hr. Are you that young?

I currently work in nova I am in my 30's and I have been a nanny for over 10 years. I have an associates degree. I am a career live in nanny.

Where in nova?

I live in McLean. I don't pay for food either. I do the family grocery shopping and eat dinner with them every night. I pick up what I want for lunches and snacks. I'm a couponer so for a family of 6 including me I spend about 65 per week on the families and my groceries. That includes toiletries. My only expense is my cell phone but I do online surveys and make around 300 per month so I back my whole paycheck and always have.

The family I work for does get a bargain as they save a lot on child care they have 3 under 6. And groceries at 65 a week is rather inexpensive.

They have 3 kids under 6 and pay you $10 an hour to do the grocery shopping 3 times a week and cut coupons for hours on end? When do you spend time with the kids?

And then you make $300 a month from taking online surveys? At 10 cents per 15 minute survey.

I do all of the couponing, shopping and survey taking on my own time after I get off work usually on the weekends. The family I work for doesn't ask me to do this, it is my hobby. They just get to partake in what I get for free and have a lower grocery bill. I might be the only person in McLean who does this, but I do and I enjoy it. I am not from around here so maybe that's why know one on here believes someone from McLean would do this. I'm originally from the Midwest.

lol what an absurd story. You do their shopping and Xtreme couponing for free and on your own time and then you spend any remaining time taking idiotic online surveys for pennies just to make enough money to make up for the minuscule salary they give you.... and you see nothing wrong.

I agree. Her story is so farfetched, she has got to be a troll. No question about it.

Can you get off an hour a week to see a therapist? Explore why you seem content with being a doormat nanny.

She's someone very sick wishing she could be a nanny.

Yes. I was hoping to get some help. No experience as a live-in.
