Tracking the Nanny's phone? RSS feed

Anonymous
We use Find My Friends whenever we're out with the kids at the same time (like at a museum when I'm with the baby and the parents are with the big ones, or if we're in a big place like a mall or an amusement park, or if one of the parents is picking us up from somewhere). Makes it easier to find each other without a million 'where are you? By the vending machine or by the info sign? Which info sign?'. But this app can be turned on and off any time, and they have no way of tracking my whereabouts when I have it off.

Our arrangement seems very reasonable to me.

I actually used Find My Friends with a family. We met up places a lot to swap kids at the end of the day and the family was new to the area so saying I'll meet them at a certain spot wasn't very helpful. It was also nice because I could see where the parents were on their drive home and have the kids all cleaned up and ready. I had a great relationship with the parents, so it never bothered me.

Wow...People like you need to stay home and raise your own darn kids for God's sake.

All the time invested in tracking your nanny should be spent on taking care of your own kids instead of outsourcing this to people you obviously do not trust.

Well said.

What about when you are not working - will they still be able to track your location?

My soon-to-be employers (job has been offered, contract signed) want me to install an spp like "Find my iPhone" or "find my friends" so that they can track my phone via the GPS that the app uses. I'm assuming they want to know where I am at all times when I am working and caring for their child. I'm sure they would say they wouldn't track me during my off hours, but what would stop then?

I thought that you could turn the Find my iPhone app off on your phone. You can have it on during work hours and then turn it off when you're done your day.

Yes. You control when it is on or off. Doesn't seem like a crazy request to me. Parents always like to know what is going on with their kids. Of course if they want you to keep it on at all times, that isn't something I would agree to do.
