Whatever she charges. If you can't afford her then you use day care or an au pair.

There is no going rate as you decide what you can pay and the nanny tells you her hourly rate.

A nanny’s quote is based on her experience, education, and special skills. Anywhere from $25 to $35 for two kids.

Nanny in Del Ray area. I make $26 an hour as a base rate with 55 hours a week guaranteed (paid on the books so time and a half overtime) three weeks paid vacation, plus a retirement contribution. Two kids.

Nanny here working in old Town. Currently watching one 5 months old and a Part time preschool. I was offered $28 for this position. All benefits and free spot to park my car. Nice family. But my rates were from $28-35 depending location, If I would be working in DC my rates for for 2 kids would be higher than $28. To OP depending of experience and location and the nanny what nanny ask and what you can afford to pay her.

There is absolutely a going rate. Presumably OP wants to know what it is to decide if she should pursue getting a nanny, or if the price she is being quoted by a candidate it fair.

You're not nearly as clever as you think you are.

There is a going market rate. Mostly with this inflation around, rates are higher than before the pandemic or even during pandemic. Generally now the rate for one child is $25 ... Mostly in VA like Arlington for example and DC.

Considering also if the position is on the books or cash. It's very common now nannies are taking more time to look for their right fit. It might be they are getting offers but when rates are very low, they just don't take the Job, since they can get higher rates for families who are on the going market and are willing to pay what nanny request.

But I'm sure you can find very qualified candidates for a decent and fair going rate. Of course thinking also what it's your budget and what you can pay.

Nanny here w/ 5yrs experience, I get $22/hr for 2 kids, one of which will be in full-time school this fall, so it's really just 1 kid during the day. 2weeks vacation, 5 sick days; many random off days, most federal holidays.
