I see Nannies and employers talk about great pay plus benefits. What are the benefits? And what’s considered Full benefits? |
Sick days, vacation days ,paid holidays off etc |
Sometimes health insurance |
There are standard benefits, such as:
Paid time off - at least 2 weeks per year Federal holidays off paid if employers are off Paid sick time Reimbursement for gas if she uses her car ...and there are extra benefits Paid cell phone Paid gym membership Contribute to health insurance |
Reimbursement for gas is not a benefit! |
My requirements are:
Guaranteed hours 2 weeks paid vacation 5 sick days Paid holidays Health insurance stipend Continuing education stipend |
Well, that's lovely if you can get all of those. |
I fully agree. I would label anything “extra” as a benefit. Paid vacation/time off days are the most common. Others include: Health insurance stipend….even full access to the food in their kitchen or unlimited access to their laundry equipment would be considered an awesome benefit since many Nannies do not make very much. |
Want to understand this more since I'm employing a nanny for the first time in a few weeks. Is it considered bad if I'm not providing lunch for the nanny? She is free to eat whatever snacks that the kids are having, but I don't have the energy to make her lunch as well as preparing everyone else's lunch. My kid is only 15 months old so while I could prepare a larger portion of his food for her to eat at lunch, I didn't think she would enjoy it. I just eat random leftovers usually, or sometimes cup noodles with a poached egg, can of sardines with with toast and raw veggies -- super basic stuff. |
You do not need to make lunch for your nanny. She is welcome to have anything as you said in your fridge, fruit tray or snack cupboard.
Most Nannie’s bring their lunch. But would like coffee, tea, soda or juice to drink with whatever they bring to eat. |
Agree with most of what you said except this. There is nothing wrong with specifying what is available for your nanny to eat rather than indicating anything is okay. |
2 weeks paid vacation and if parents take more time off then they pay nanny as well
1 week of sick days Health Insurance All Federal Holidays paid These are not benefits but should be payed Time and a half after 40 hours which many parents don’t pay Gas mileage if nanny drives your kids in her car |
If nanny needs to do CPR after Two years
Flu shots TDAP for tetanus and whooping cough parents should pay for this also Some parents ask for TB exam , parents should also pay for this exam |
