I work for a split family. The kids are adorable. I like the parents too but need to remind them most weeks to pay me. Mom and dad pay me alternate weeks so I understand there is some confusion about who pays when. I feel a little embarrassed having to remind them. Am I over-reacting? |

No you're not over-reacting. Tell them both you need to be paid without asking just as they are by their employers. They can put reminders on their calendars. |
At this point, I'd have them pay me in advance. |
Sign up for direct deposit and a payroll service. They will automatically pay you each pay day |
This. |
The problem is the two week delay. Why these companies demand to hold your money for so long, I don't know. It's not as if we're doing snail mail. |
Just send them a reminder text the night before the payment is due. |

They don't forget to pay mortgage, car payment, utility bills and they did not forget you but they hope to get away without paying you. I would have sat both of them down and had a conversation about paying every week on time and if it happened again that I would quit. These people cannot afford you. Find a new job. |

Sorry but I respectfully have to disagree w/this suggestion. Why should the Nanny here have to go out of her way just to be paid on- time?? The responsibility totally lies on the employer here. |
Any payroll company does this. It’s so the first run check is a dummy check to make sure the information given and the information entered into the system used is correct and the money goes to the correct place. So if you’re paid weekly it’s one week behind so they can run that “dummy” check to make sure everything is correct |
Oddly enough the one who looks after their children is a low priority in their life. You are an afterthought. Seek another family to provide care for. |
LOL. Your payroll company is collecting interest while the nanny’s pay is delayed. If you only need to verify information, you could get a $1.00 check as soon as you sign up your new client. Electronic banking does not take 14 days. While it’s currently legal, this practice is grossly unethical. This is why I simply tell parents I expect my paycheck immediately after I have completed each week of work. Or they’ll have to find someone else. So far it’s worked out for me. |
NP Your ignorance is showing so you’re lucky it’s anonymous. I work on payroll. Bigger payroll companies all do this. It’s ok to be stupid just don’t show it |
