I was all set to babysit for my neighbor, who is a nurse. We confirmed on Thursday. Great. Today she sent me a good morning text at 10 am. I didn't respond because I was at the gym with my kids. Less than 2 hours later, she said she booked someone else because she wasn't sure if I was available.

It does seem a bit odd but if I were the parent I might panic a bit if I texted you the morning of and didn’t hear back for 2 hours. You didn’t have your phone in the gym for 2 hours?

You didn't say WHEN you were going to babysit for the neighbor, but regardless she's a nurse. She couldn't risk you not showing up. People were depending on her.

OP here. I was going to babysit for her that evening. And her text was only a good morning GIF. It wasn't a message asking if we're still okay? And her last babysitter smoked in her house, so I think she called that crazy person back! This is the second time she's canceled on me the same day. I don't check my phone every 2 hours. I'm not like that.

op here. i usually have my phone in my locker. sometimes I don't even bring it. i do school work at the gym, take showers, swim, sauna, I have children. those two hours of childcare are priceless. i try not to spend it on my phone

I think you're a jerk and immature for saying she's crazy.

We don't know the entire story. She could have had several babysitters flake on her, YOU could have flaked on her, she may have wanted to shift the time, etc.

Plenty of unknown factors. But sure, post about someone being 'crazy' on an anonymous forum. Feel better?

Nobody? I DO. And Sometimes I do steam room and go straight to swim. It's my gym relaxing time. No phones near me!

Nobody? I DO. And Sometimes I do steam room and go straight to swim. It's my gym relaxing time. No phones near me!. Ohhh and I am not the OP. I'm also a nanny who loves my free times without phones around me at the gym.
