Can I host an non-IQ APIA AuPair if my child is under 2? RSS feed

I'm with APIA and there's a specific aupair I'd like to rematch with but she is not IQ qualified. I have a 7 yo and a 19 month old. I really don't need an IQ aupair and feel that this particular aupair is more than qualified to do the job. Does anyone know if I'm allowed to host a non-IQ qualified aupair if one of my children is under 2/. Or am I restricted?

Alternatively, the woman I'd like to rematch with actually does have some infant experience. But she got the experience after creating her APIA profile and before traveling to the U.S....so it isn't reflected. Can aupairs alter their profiles to get an IQ status if they acquire new experiences since first creating their profiles on the portal?

Nope, they absolutely 100% will not allow a non iq au pair live in a home with a child under 2.

And no, they don’t allow them to change their qualifications during their term.

This is a strict rule because of some tragedies in the past with APs and babies, I dont think they are legally allowed to bend this rule, for good reason.

Nope, absolutely not.

Also, how did she get enough experience to be IQ between creating her profile and coming? 200 hours is a lot for someone that young. Even if they did it for 10 hour days, that’s still 20 days of work, and all of it has to be verifiable as with newborn to 23 months.

I think it is allowed as long as she would never be left alone with or responsible for the toddler.

You really don’t want an au pair for a child that age unless you have done some serious vetting of your own. Do not rely on an agency opinions. Especially for a child that can’t communicate readily.
