Any recommendations for a dentist for an Au Pair? She is in pain but can't afford to pay a lot. She's in Arlington, VA but can travel. |
Why don’t you help her to pay for it |
Look for dental schools in the area - they usually have very affordable options because students will be doing the work (under the guidance of a more experienced instructor)
I googled and found this site as a starting point: https://www.freedentalcare.us/ci/va-arlington https://www.freedentalcare.us/st/virginia |
My au pair just saw a dentist in Silver Spring that works with the immigrant community. She had to have a tooth extracted and they had a very flexible scale based on what you could pay. It is called Servicios Dentales Hispanico and is at 8121 Georgia Ave. |
Please help her pay for it. This is such a basic need. |
This is easier said than done depending on the issue. Absolutely OP should help pay for a screening, but if she needs a root canal & crown or even worse, I don't think it's reasonable to expect a HF to pony up thousands of dollars unexpectedly. Plenty can't afford that. |
Crown is optional but if a root canal is needed it would be very cruel not to pay. I have paid for my own tooth extraction and root canal due to no insurance and it wasn't $1000s. It was a lot but it really hurt so I had no choice. Ask for the uninsured discount. The dentist gets a reduced rate from the insurance company which is why the bill is so high but many of them will bring the cost down to closer to what they receive from insurance for private pay. |
Root canal without crown is not really a thing. Asking to kill the tooth. |
