Care background check notification RSS feed

What does it look like, on the caregiver side, when an employer initiates a background check via Care? A potential nanny keeps letting the requests expire, and telling me she’s not receiving any notifications to approve it. I’ve never been on the caregiver side on Care, so I’m not even sure what to tell her to look for, though I imagine it’s probably a notification via email (that’s how I hear the check has been initiated, expired, completed, etc.). Thanks for your help!

I think it can be a little confusing, but I haven't had one on there for a couple of years. When someone requested one for me a couple of years ago, I received with parents first name, last initial and a message saying that a background check was requested. But when I logged into Care.com, there was nothing in messages about it. If you click on messages and look at the very top, there is a little bell icon (alerts). You have to click on that bell and then you receive the notice and link to complete the background check there. It is not intuitive at all from what I remember.

*I meant to say I received an email with parents first name, last initial (not a message).

The email said to log into Care.com to approve the request.

Does Care offer the same for nannies to background -check the employer?

No, they don't offer that. However, I think Care is now doing more screening of families who post themselves (for example they make a note if the posting is for a pod/multiple families indicating they haven't checked all families).

I thought the families were toggling that.

I'm not sure what it looks like from the family side. I assumed that was Care.com checking families, but it there is a toggle option then perhaps they don't check at all.

I do think Care.com some some type of minimal checks on families because I occasionally get notices that the job I applied for or someone who contacted me is no longer a member of care.com community and to be careful about corresponding with them (if you've already exchanged contact info).

That’s because they were reported for fraud, phishing or harassment. Other caregivers reported them, or care found out that they posted contact information in a free profile.
