- Who’ve found new and fun activities for their charges because everything closed.
- Who’ve sacrificed their personal lives on weekends and evening to keep their charges safe. - Who’ve had to deal with parents working from home (crowding the nanny’s workplace). I cannot tell you how much we appreciate it and see what you’ve done for us. |
How much have you increased their hourly rate for risking their lives? $000000.00! Money talks and not some measly week's bonus at Christmas I am not a nanny and I pay my cleaning $100 extra every week for coming to my house to clean. |
Not the point of the thread but good for you for paying your cleaning person well. Can we leave money out of this (for once)? |
+1. Yes, thank you! |
Thanks. I wish my employers were remotely appreciative. All I get is negativity. |
Did you every watch Mad Men. There this iconic scene where Peggy tells Don that he never says “thank you,” and Don replies, “that’s what the money is for!” Yeah, it sucks there is no where to go, and you’ve sacrificed your social life (but you are supposed to be social distancing notwithstanding), and the parents are always home in their own house (at least they are working). |
I’m sorry, PP. I feel so grateful that my employers are so vocal about their appreciation. And thanks, OP! |
Which is so ironic since Don Draper lived for the approbation of others (especially women). Anyway, gratitude for a job well done isn’t unusual or costly. The job of being a nanny is harder now. I see it and I say it! |
Clean your own home. |
Interesting that you appear to identify with Don Draper. He was not the hero of that show, you know? In any case, being catty about how I am “supposed to be social distancing anyway” and the parents “are in their own home” just shows your own lack of empathy. Instead of having some down time during the day while the kids are in school, cleaning after the kids and managing their schedule of classes and playdates, I am now DIY-ing a homeschool curriculum (because I assume they will learn little if anything next year), trying to keep kids quiet and occupied in a house with 2 working parents and zero home office during the hottest part of the summer and having to clean up after kids AND parents all day, since the adults can’t seem to manage to tidy their own messes in spite of the fact that I am caring for 2 kids and keep up with my/their mess just fine. This is not the job I signed up for. If the money is my “thank you” then I deserve a raise. If they won’t pay me more OR show respect and appreciation then I will take a cue from Peggy and find a new job. |
Wow. Good for you. I hope they either figure it out or you find a new better job. Plenty of good families looking. We have an awesome nanny and she never has to clean up after us and I make sure to thank her everyday and extra for anything extra she does if the kids nap at the same time. |
Well I'm a nanny who didn't stop working (and realized i was pretty lucky not to lose my job) and to OP thanks for the shout out and you're welcome! |
+1. I know your jobs have gotten harder. Much gratitude! |
You're an idiot. I provide employment and pay well. |
No. Nannies work for money not "atta girls"! If they have gone above and beyond their contracted cities, they should be paid as well as being thanked. |
