Thanks. I wish my employers were remotely appreciative. All I get is negativity.
Did you every watch Mad Men. There this iconic scene where Peggy tells Don that he never says “thank you,” and Don replies, “that’s what the money is for!” Yeah, it sucks there is no where to go, and you’ve sacrificed your social life (but you are supposed to be social distancing notwithstanding), and the parents are always home in their own house (at least they are working).
Interesting that you appear to identify with Don Draper. He was not the hero of that show, you know? In any case, being catty about how I am “supposed to be social distancing anyway” and the parents “are in their own home” just shows your own lack of empathy. Instead of having some down time during the day while the kids are in school, cleaning after the kids and managing their schedule of classes and playdates, I am now DIY-ing a homeschool curriculum (because I assume they will learn little if anything next year), trying to keep kids quiet and occupied in a house with 2 working parents and zero home office during the hottest part of the summer and having to clean up after kids AND parents all day, since the adults can’t seem to manage to tidy their own messes in spite of the fact that I am caring for 2 kids and keep up with my/their mess just fine. This is not the job I signed up for. If the money is my “thank you” then I deserve a raise. If they won’t pay me more OR show respect and appreciation then I will take a cue from Peggy and find a new job.
