My profile is still up on care.com but not “featured” and my time is clearly marked unavailable but I am averaging two inquiries a day lately. All from parents of kids previously in daycare and preschool. I always write back and tell them I’m happily employed and wish them well.
I’ve always left my profile up and have never gotten this level of interest. I am assuming that nannies are in demand right now. |
Yes as well as tutoring position inquiries. Crazy times. |
Nannies should be getting very well compensated these days. |
I’ve been stopped (at a distance) more than ever before with parents trying to poach me. My agency asked if I knew anyone who wasn’t working. |
Yes, getting lots of requests! It's not always clear if it's short term or long term positions though. |
I don’t have a profile up but 3 different families who are former employers or weekend sitting clients who have kids who are normally in school or daycare have checked in to float the idea of me switching jobs. |
Yes! It’s been crazy! |
My former nanny called to say she’s unhappy at her current position which she’s held for awhile.. I said I’d be happy to help her find a new job, but was skeptical that
people are looking due to being nervous about inviting a new person into their home. But maybe that’s not the case? Maybe nannies are in high demand. She’s a lovely woman who isn’t being paid all that she’s been promised. |
People are realizing their summer plans won’t be there or rethinking daycare if they have a newborn or infant in the house or finding that their big kids who were somewhat occupied with online school are now bery high-maintenance. Encourage her to look for something because people are definitely hiring right now! |
Nannies are in high demand right now. It’s crazy. I am getting two and three inquiries a day now. Please tell her to start looking for a new position immediately. Starting with a newborn is her best bet. |
Yes, I get it but most people are paying $10-15, not the 30-40 hours I see posted here. I’m an English speaking, college educated nanny with 4 years of experience.
I have been taking any jobs that pay over $15 but it’s not a lot. |
Where are you located, PP? If you are in this area or another major city you are grossly underpaid. Our teenage babysitter, before corona, was getting $20 an hour for two sleeping children! Our nanny is at $27 an hour. You need to get with an agency or screen more carefully. $10 an hour is illegal. |
You are nuts for even taking a babysitting job for less than $20 an hour!! Where are you looking, PP? Tell us what neighborhood you’re in and maybe we can help. I’m turning down tutoring and nanny jobs daily right now just being listed on care.com. |
+1. Let us help you! You are really being short-changed and taken advantage of. |
Our nanny isn't, because our nanny isn't out with the kids. They're playing in the house or in the yard. |
