Our good AP is extending and just entered the pool.
We do not extend as our rule and are fine without an ap.
She ends with us in August and we are with cultural care.

We have a had great APs do a second year with other families, so we have been through this before...but nothing like this for competition ....her first 3 connections offered 1k or more “signing bonus”.
One offered a lot more if she would arrive in June.

Interesting. My great AP just extended with a family locally and she got no bonus or anything like that. She interviewed with a few families and no one mentioned anything like bonus or higher stipend. I guess YMMV.

Rematch pool is now crazy. Our LCC said the good ones max connections many times a day and they are picky about families. It’s good time for au pairs to rematch. Perks hunters are entering rematch without actual reason. Just shopping for better perks

Are you sure that you will be able to get a new AP in given flights/government issues? Most probably realize the pool may be smaller as no one wants to travel or restrictions. Its not unreasonable to ask to come earlier if they need child care.

We left CC as a result of the changes they made to their matching methods. Gives the au pairs so much control and families are left scrambling to compete with eachother.

+1 I am the PP whose AP matched without bonus offers. My au pair is from APC and I think the CC system gives all the power to APs and encourage family competitions. I registered with them and got totally turned off and moved to APC.

Competition is fierce. Rules must be bent right now. Our former NIGHTMARE AuPair has until July 30th. She was allowed a FOURTH rematch. I was rematch #2, I unloaded her April 1st, matched with a family in McLean and I just got a reference call for a 4th family.

I will admit I was not 100% forthcoming with the McLean family because we were in lockdown, flights were not going out and I needed this psycho out of my house. There was a string chance she could have been stuck in our home (LCC refused to house her and agency was in too much chaos to get her home, nor were there flights) I was though 100% brutally honest with added warnings with family#4.

It is a very good time to be an awful AuPair AuPair looking for a new family.

Poor HF #3. You failed to disclose the truth to them so they took your nightmare. Now you're "full disclosure" with Family #4 so Family #3 likely won't be able to get rid of her.

Note to HFs: Even in these crazy times, do NOT consider an AP who has already gone through 2 families. One rematch, maybe (but only because of COVID), but more than one in the same 12 months? No way.

I’ll throw out a contrary opinion to this one: we had a lovely au pair who came to us from rematch. She was great, but when COVID hit and both parents started WFH likely through summer, it made no sense to continue in the program, so we stopped. She is now with her third family in under 12 months but she was definitely one of the best au pairs we’ve had. I’d take her back in a heartbeat if I through COVID would be over by August.

Yea and get stuck with her? No chance in hell was I going to give them the full scoop. Also she was rematch #2 when she came to me so I was lied to as well. Oh well, it happens.

You are correct. Rematch #3 was a bad idea on their part.

Word gets around about host families. Nightmare hosts tend to get stuck with bad APs.
