I currently watch an eight mos. old adorable little boy.
I started watching him two months ago. This morning I was eating cut-up apple for a snack & gave him very very tiny pieces. I bit off super tiny little pieces, then gave them to the baby. Size was about the size of an ant. Well when the Father saw this on the camera - He was upset. He sent me a text message just now telling me that he didn’t want my saliva touching the baby due to the spread of germs. I promised him I would stop. I’ve bitten off food for other children and never realized it could be an issue.
Also, there are numerous cameras on the property. While they are in full view, they are starting to bother me. I find it very creepy + voyeuristic to watch someone on camera. I was playing w/their dog yesterday & noticed a camera on the patio. Plus they have like two cameras in each room minus the bathroom. Would you keep this job?? |
| He doesn't want your saliva toughing his kid? You should start looking for a new job immediately and give no notice! What a douchebag he is. |

Obvious Troll is Obvious.
Obviously |

I would not want a caretaker sharing food/drinks with my children. I would put this in the same category. I find that a little gross.
I wouldn't want to work with cameras on me all the time either. I understand why parents do it, but I also would not want to work like that. |
| I would quit. They are micromanaging and I couldn’t deal with that. |
|
I wouldn’t want my nanny putting food in her mouth and then feeding it to my kid. I also don’t expect my nanny to eat food that has been in my child’s mouth. Use a knife!
But the feeling watched is unsettling and I can understand deciding to not want to work in that environment. |
| Studies show that parents, siblings, and anyone really should never share spoons, or food that’s been in their mouth and never clean a pacifier with your mouth because the bacteria in your mouth can be bad for them, and could cause cavities |
| The size of an ant? |
| Absolutely disgusting. Use a knife but an 8 month old should not be eating apple without teeth. You should be fired. |
OP Here: Trust me....he has teeth! He loves biting me already! |
|
No adult should ever bite off food for a baby or give the baby anything we may put in our mouths. Adults have very different bacteria that causes dental decay in young children. This goes for mothers, too. It’s any adult.
You know better now, OP, so you’ll do better. As for the cameras, they are simply a fact of life in most nanny homes. I see no reason to quit. Apologize for your mistake and thank him for his information. -a nanny |
There was a time when mother's chewed the food and then fed it to their babies. |
There was a time when mothers held their babies in the front seat of the car with no seatbelts and put them to sleep on their stomachs. Again, when we know better - we do better. |
| Even without teeth a 8 month old could chew a tiny piece of apple CUT properly. Use a knife. You don’t need teeth to gum food. My dad can eat steak with his gums. |
Yes, the same time that teeth didn’t last past about age 40. |
