I started watching him two months ago.

This morning I was eating cut-up apple for a snack & gave him very very tiny pieces.
I bit off super tiny little pieces, then gave them to the baby.
Size was about the size of an ant.

Well when the Father saw this on the camera -
He was upset.
He sent me a text message just now telling me that he didn’t want my saliva touching the baby due to the spread of germs.
I promised him I would stop.

I’ve bitten off food for other children and never realized it could be an issue.

Also, there are numerous cameras on the property.
While they are in full view, they are starting to bother me.
I find it very creepy + voyeuristic to watch someone on camera.
I was playing w/their dog yesterday & noticed a camera on the patio.

Plus they have like two cameras in each room minus the bathroom.

Would you keep this job??

Your boss was correct, OP. You were wrong.

The camera issue is separate and totally up to your comfort level. Although I do think that nannies will eventually have to make peace with cameras as they are coming down in price and so easy to use.

1) No, you should never be spitting into anyone’s food, which is essentially what this was. You wouldn’t spit on an apple and hand it to a friend, so why would you do this to a child? Cutlery exists for a reason.

2) Baby-led weaning is fine but it is also NOT the nanny’s call. Stick to purees unless the parents decide to try BLW.

3) You may not like cameras but it sounds like they were pretty up front with the fact that cameras are a part of this job. So get used to it or quit.

The point is to have the baby try biting the food, not just swallow it. So not only are you spreading germs, you’re teaching the child to swallow pieces without chewing? Nope.

And cameras exist (and are used) for a reason. If you don’t tell the parents what you decide to do with their child, then they have an understandable right to be annoyed or even angry when they see something they don’t like on camera.

Your family sounds ridiculous and like they don’t trust you. Find another job and give them a weeks notice. They have cameras so they can hire quickly bc they can just watch their new hire.

So you don’t kiss this baby either, correct?

I do not kiss my infant charges on the mouth. Seriously, what is wrong with people?

Unprofessional. Also, he may not have been able to see the size you served and was aware that raw apples are a higher risk to offer.

Your employer was correct; you were wrong; cameras exist for this reason.

It’s no big deal, OP. Live and learn. Everyone makes mistakes.

Please stop, PP. You are being purposely obtuse.

Adult bacteria in your mouth should not be placed in a baby’s mouth. Do not put something into your mouth (as OP did) and then put it in the baby’s mouth. These practices cause tooth decay in babies and young children. Look it up or ask any Pediatric dentist or pediatrician.

Kissing a baby on the cheek is no where close to the same thing.

Nope. Just asking a question and pointing out the flaw in logic. Bacteria is everywhere. So either live in a bubble or get over it.

Do you actually know all the things that cause tooth decay? Did you know that certain formulas can also cause decay?
