No judgement one way or the other.

I am a nanny and no - one of my former charges has been to my home but no one else.

However with my new/current family, I am going to make a point of inviting them over one weekend. They live nearby and I actually want these people to be apart of my life.

Yes, my employers have been to my home. We live about a mile apart. The dad has been to my house to help me install my televisions and fix a few things for me. I bring the kids to my house on a weekly basis. B

She is mid thirties and lives with her parents so no. Bit of a weird situation but not on me to judge I guess.

No. Former employers were huge phonies and always said I was a part of their family - until they fired me and refused to let me even see my former charge. What has made it easier for me was that I never believed them (re the family crap) and they were never a part of my family or life outside work. My charge was - she routinely played with my other former charges and has been to my home.

My current employers are great and it’s a great job. I may let down my defenses a bit with them.

Our son’s preK teacher is about 35 to 40 and lives with her parents too. I think it might be a cultural thing. Our housekeeper when I was a kid was from Mexico and couldn’t believe my brothers and I moved out after college.

And yes, I have been to our nanny’s home a few times. We are always invited over for her family’s celebrations and she, her husband and older kids are invited to ours.

Our nanny is American so not cultural. She is lovely but more like a girl in her late teens/early twenties than a 34 year old.

Yeah, that’s “unusual”.

Maybe it's a financial necessity. How much are you people paying these women?

Yes. She has a yearly cookout that we attend.

I completely agree with this. It could be the nanny of the troll who keeps posting he pays his unicorn nanny $15/hour. Or perhaps she helps with family obligations. We know some young people who chose to live with parents to save for nicer houses, pay off student loan debt quickly, etc.

yet you are clearly judging - life happens and not every one has your resources or makes similar choices with you

Nevertheless, you are judging, aren't you.
