We matched with a Thai au pair but she was denied her visa. She said she hears this is happening a lot. We’ve hosted 4 other Thai au pairs with no visa issue. Has anyone matched recently with a Thai AP who had no trouble getting a visa? Do we know what factors in? |
I don't match with them, but from what I hear, they have stopped issuing visas due to too many jumping them.
Maybe find another country to pull from. |
Stopped issuing them altogether? Yikes. Really?? |
It's a numbers game. Many of them come here as APs, but they are shopping for a US passport or simply jump. |
Yeah - we heard the same thing when matching....ccap stopped recruiting there so only ones already with application in show up....but state department cracked down on all visas from there and now like 1 in 10’get them. |
This is disappointing to hear. We love our Thai an pair who will be finishing up in May and am definitely interested in another one from Thailand. |
Different country but we heard the same thing about Filipino au pairs. We had one arrive in April, but our agency has seen visa denials since the June timeframe. These things ebb and flow, and there isn't necessarily an end time in sight. We were told to look at other countries. Definitely an issue when many do APs do not return. |
Has anyone else recently tried to match with a Thai aupair for 2019 and run into visa denial issue? I didn't realize there was a problem with J1 visas for Thailand. Did this just start happening? |
Yeah. I am hosting a Thai Au Pair, She came last year October, she told me back them it was 1 in 3 approval rate, now it's 1 in 10 approval rate. AuPairCare completely took down Thai au pair profiles and CCAP doesnt recommend matching with them since their VISAs are being denied.
My Thai Aupair told me almost all thai au pairs are looking for husband here. She said she is one of the rare ones that follows guideline and rules. I really like Thai au pair, well, I only had one au pair so far. Was really looking forward to matching with another Thai girl but looks like that ship is sailed for now. |
We matched with Thai Au Pair (would have been our 4th Thai AP) and she was denied her visa and her appeal. None of our previous Thai Au Pairs overstayed, two extended legally. One wanted to come visit us this summer but is worried about getting a visa to do that now. Grrrr.... We have really loved hosting Thai women, the kids love the Thai culture and food and the Thai community where we live. They order for us at Thai restaurants. This sucks. We are going to try to find a second year Thai Au Pair and hope when we look again next year that this has changed. |
This. Nothing mysterious. Its basic statistics. If too many are getting married or jumping their Visa, the program closes for them. Plus who really wants an AP that is husband shopping. State department is doing everyone a favor. |
What a ridiculous thing to say. We have hosted 4 Thai au pairs and none were “husband shopping”. (Mostly saving money and trying to improve their English to help family businesses at home). So grossly racist. |
But given the track record of different nationalities and the lack of resources to keep on top of all the visa jumpers, the State department has to have some response. Notwithstanding your own experience, it is basing the decisions on recent history. No foreign citizen has a presumptive right to enter the US. |
The gross part was the “who wants an AP who is husband shoppig” |
It is not "racist" do you even know what racist means? |
