My charge is two-years-old and, in this position, I don't walk as much as I did in my previous position due to the neighborhood (basically no place to walk to and no sidewalks). I run around playing with her a lot but don't feel I am getting adequate cardio exercise. Then again, it is not like I have a desk job sitting around all day!
Do you nannies add a cardio workout to your schedule? Stretching or weights? |
| Carrying the children up and down the stairs all day is my workout. Lol. |
+1 |
| Yes! I go to swimming, yoga and orange theory. Sometimes Barre classes. I love exercising. I attend 6 am or 7 pm classes during the week because I work 50 hours a week. |
| No, I am too tired after a 10 hour day and an hour commute. Exercising has never given me more energy. |
| I do exercises with the kids. Bench press kids, it works on your upper body and their core and control. They jump up, grab my forearm and hang as long as they can. We play airplane, holding hands and my feet support each side of their hips. We do various lifts, hold and flips, all with me standing and them going over my head for a minimum of three seconds. When I do a combination of those with at least one child for at least 30 minutes, I don’t need any weight or resistance training. And between running after/with kids and up and down stairs, I don’t need cardio. |
+1 Maybe I didn't give it enough time for the "energy" to kick in but I find that exercise makes me more tired and burned out. |
| I’m really active with kids during the day but not satisfactory for my workout. I still do at least a half hour of yoga and walk my dog for an hour every night when I come home |
| Pp here I also do HIIT which I recommend for nannies that are working long days. Sometimes it’s all I have time for if it’s rain8ng and can’t walk for long |
| Yes, I workout. I exercise one hour in the morning before work, I dance around the house where I work and I walk around the neighborhood with the child and when she was at school I did the same. When it rained I would walked up and down the stairs 12 times. Lady if you really want to exercise you will find and make the time. I do ballroom dancing, therefore I need to practice my steps so I wouldn't forget them when on the dance floor, therefore I sometimes dance in the kitchen. If there is an empty area where you work make use of it. Run up and down the stairs if there's sidewalk in your neighborhood....good luck. |

What is HIIT? |
High intensity interval training. It packs cardio that is equivalent to a longer workout into shorter workouts. So you can burn more calories in less time |
