What did you give (if you are an employer) or get (if you are a nanny)? Preferably as a prrcentage of pay?

I got 1/2 week’s pay in the form of gift cards to a store they know I like. It’s fine but nothing to write home about.

We've had the same nanny for six years. Gave a week and a half cash bonus, plus two tickets to Book of Mormon and a cashmere sweater that will look really good with Nanny's eyes and coloring.

So far just a gift from former employers for whom I still work a few hours every week - a gift card worth about one-tenth of the gift I gave their child. They were always surprisingly cheap. But I do dearly love their little girl.

I received one weeks pay.

$1K bonus in card thanking her in detail for all she did this year, plus Lanz nightgown in her favorite color, custom music box with her favorite tune, and deluxe dark chocolate assortment from her favorite chocolatier.

$800 added to paycheck. Slightly less than a week's pay for a nanny of ~6 months

We gave $500, home-made-baked goods, and a cheap gift I knew she'd like.

We also do substantial ($100+) gifts several times a year.

I love that you wrote her a heartfelt note. Well done!

Almost full week's pay (net) in cash in a card
Several small gifts in a stocking, all to my taste, from observation
Small gift to do with kids this week
Larger gift that they knew I would appreciate, based on my tastes
Cards and pictures from the kids throughout the last week, whenever the kids wanted to give them to me

Overall, I would guess that total cost was in the range of 2 weeks pay. But the thought that went into everything was so much more important to me than the cost.

Oh, and the only comments about the number of gifts that I gave the kids were that I could label them from me or Santa, put them wherever I wanted, and they hoped I hadn't overspent. Having had previous employers who would not allow any gifts for kids... It was a very welcome change!

I’m in a nanny share and I received 1 weeks pay. 1 family gave me extra money and the other family bought me a few items (that I loved) and a picture of my charge. However, (this is embarrassing) the check didn’t clear. I said something and she said she’s going to write another check (forgot to transfer funds) but I’m wondering if she’s going to add in the fee “I” was charged for the bounce check.

I don’t understand why I get charged when I wasn’t the one with NSF- but that’s a whole other convo for a different feed.

My part time family (I’ve been working for them for about 4 months) gave me 2 weeks worth of pay (taxed) and a gift. I wasn’t expecting that but am grateful. I sent all my families a flower arrangement inside a Christmas mug and some chocolates.

If they gave you a bounced check, they need to make other arrangements in future. Either cash or direct deposit.

$100 and a small gift. I don't work for a very rich family

Gave $1000 cash (about $150 more than her weekly take home), two nice picture frames w/ small pictures of our kids (which she can obviously swap out if she wants to) and a nice note. Nanny of almost a year.

What is the HH income of the families that can spare 1K? I'm amazed so many here give such big bonuses. We couldn't afford anything near that...
